The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department. The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State. After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.
NORMAN -- An explosion near the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Memorial Stadium killed one person Saturday, OU officials said.
Another eyewitness report:

I was 2 blocks away when the 2nd bomb went off. The bomb squad had contained it then let it detonate. So it was muffled but it had the same percussion as the first explosion.
bump for morning
If it had happened in New York city the whole damn country would be in a panic.
why would a suicide have 2 bombs???

Two blasts, one of a second device found and detonated by the bomb squad.
I'd say the chances of a "work accident" are fairly high, but time will tell.
That was no pipe bomb! Way too loud and it blew the person into tiny little pieces according to our news.
Well, I think that's what the police are thinking. They (the two seen fleeing) unloaded their backpacks somewhere on campus. That's why they have bombsniffing dogs all over the place, and that robotic thingy that detonates bombs.
I wonder why they haven't evacuated the campus, though???
I live in Norman and go to graduate school in meteorology at OU. I was not at the game tonight, and didn't hear the explosion. I truly hope this was not a terrorist bombing attempt of any sort, partly because I'm concerned about the implications this could have for security and the like.
the media blackout on this is stunning.
Ok - now I'm REALLY marking my spot and going to bed!!
Spot marked although I suspect this thread will be HUGE before I can get back to it!
Out.
Nytol.
This was last week if it is the same report.
bump
You're right.....it's only Oklahoma /sarcasm
Keep moving, folks. The MSM wants you to know that there is absolutely nothing abnormal with this story. Nothing to see here.
The television version is much more exciting, and typically leaves out the lawyers in the lives of the physicians depicted. Also the play doctors are paid much, much more than practicing ones.
We know that there was at least one bomb that was detonated by the bomb squad, that could have belonged to another. I would speculate that the intitial bomb went off prematurely and it spooked whatever the plans were. For that we can be very thankful. The authorities were looking for more explosives, that could be protocol but more likely they good reason to be looking.
Because eyewitness accounts claim there were 2 bombers?? Just guessing.
I just saw this thread. Has it been determined exactly what happened?
