The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department. The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State. After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.
NORMAN -- An explosion near the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Memorial Stadium killed one person Saturday, OU officials said.
My feeling is that Boren and the "state and federal agents" who were quoted would not have made the definitive statements they did about HinrichsIII's "history of emotional problems" if they didn't have concrete medical records, such as from the OU infirmary/health center or dispensing pharmacist, or perhaps a criminal record of misdemeanors for fighting or arson or something angry/violent like that.
Maybe that could lead him to the Islamic Center or some Muslims, but that doesn't directly connect to them. However, I do believe the quoted problems, since the father, HinrichsJr, was not "surprised" about the "emotional problems" allegation, only by the suicide itself.
Note that he didn't seem to question whether or not HinrichsIII was perhaps a "victim" of a bomber--he accepted that his son did himself in.
I did a google search to find out the number of suicides by bomb as distinct from suicide/mass homicide by bomb. Nothing on any of the sites about suicide methods, including a CDC report about suicide methods had any stats of suicide by bomb. I admit the CDC report was older and only went covered a certain age range-ending at 19 years old. But you would think at least a glip would show up.
"He was making a statement IMHO and I don't like the implications."
I would agree with that - otherwise why not use any one of the firearms he was familiar with? What's interesting is that there was no note and no-one close to him seems to understand what that message would be at this point... (Perhaps he assumed the MSM and authorities would automatically "get it" due to the method - or perhaps he wasn't planning on dying...)
Thanks for that update. It sounds like your local reporters are getting impatient with the Admin. story. I hope they keep pressing.

There were witnesses just not close enough to see him blow up and get hurt but they felt the force and a bus driver has been quoted as being blown back. That person saw the kid sitting on the bench I read somewhere today.
I appreciate your effort to keep things simple and less confused. In times of challenge it is a necessity. But I wonder how Occam's Razor would have faired after the first plane hit the first trade tower. It would have sounded something like "man, what an accident that was." Simplicity is good, but humanity has a way of making things rather complicated.
Im trying to catch up..Thanks so much for all the info.
I think you are right ....
People who make bombs are motivated ...people who are depressed are not...
If the statement is "I can blow myself up " ...its not much of a statement
Occam's Razor. Sometimes a kid that blows himself up is just a kid that blows himself up.
I agree. Something is wrong with the spin coming out but that is nothing unusual. They put a lid on the Greek system talking about an alcohol poisoning death last fall.
That's why I was shocked to see the Triangle President on TV this evening being interviewed.
---Yes, that's what later replies indicat. Additionally, a thread explains the huge explosive cache that was found in the apartment. Not any website but a likely credible one. I'll post the URL if I can find it.---
And the MSM is missing the whole thing?
This kid was definitely motivated with all the bomb making supplies. Don't think he planned on being blown up with all those supplies still in his apartment.
I remember when there was an alcohol related death at CU-Boulder no-one in the Greek system was talking either...
And sometimes not
Just wanted to say thanks again for all your efforts to keep us all up to date.

I have yet to read about his explosives ...but obviously blowing stuff up is in the news these days...If he is an imitator of Muslims and hates something I guess he might be the lone nut ...but its pretty clear where he was getting his ideas from
Yup.....what else can we expect? BTW, some Norman-based FReepers are reporting that their local media is finally getting antsy with Boren's "explanations." Will the national media wake up? I seriously doubt it. CNN is covering Katrina; Fox is covering Aruba; and MSNBC, they are befuddled as usual.
Here is the link I mentioned in the post referenced by you. Check it out: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1495507/posts?page=3
I'm searching for a copy of the article that detailed 5 injured - if anyone has a URL please re-post...
Anyway, came across this interesting article out of France (of all places! LOL). The author however is Michael Wright of Norman, OK.

Channel 9 News out of Denver is reporting the following organizations investigating;
"The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Joint Terrorism Task Force, OU police, Norman police and the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office also are investigating the incident."
