The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department. The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State. After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.
NORMAN -- An explosion near the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Memorial Stadium killed one person Saturday, OU officials said.
not my problem. Many others are rightfully noting your excellent history, and then claiming you have provided first-hand eyewitness accounts from the stadium.
I was trying to clarify exactly what was said. There were thousands of posts, it was late last night when I was reading, and I misunderstood the relationship between you and the guy/girl involved in the story.
i apologize for misunderstanding that relationship, but your response is EXACTLY WHY I ASKED.
Howdy Justanobody...good to see you back on the thread.
BTW, why are you posting such detailed info on bomb cache, etc.? Some FReepers aren't going to like their ideas of a "mere suicide" disappear in thin air. /sarcasm
I have a Texas version on my cork board at work. Every once in a while, it gets a little smile. One of those was from an Army Lt. Col. :)
Maybe dad was already medicated by the time the press got to him. I know I'd be if one of my sons committed suicide.
Don't hold your breath about that. They should have been thoroughly investigated after 9-11 when it was discovered Moussouri (sp) and his "friends" were there and then Nicholas Berg hung out there.
I think recent evidence blows my theory to pieces. For now I'm just content to have a strong distrust for anything the university pres has to say. I don't by the "lone suicide" theory, and I don't think the kid had emotional problems like the pres was saying. I'm leaning toward Joel either being directly connected to Islam, or a dupe of Islam.
Well, Drudge is finally talking about it on the radio.
Sorry, I'm too new to know the history, BUT their comments were not based on anything, just unnamed sources, and the writing is very bad, so I didn't consider it anything professional. They didn't base the allegations on anything, just a giant leap. There need to be some dots to connect and there aren't.
Thanks! I have been trying to very careful in what I have been reporting. I heard the explosion last night and again tonight. I should have put FRATERNITY in front of brother so no one would mistake it for one of my kids. Never thought about that until you said something. I am just used to using the term brother to mean fraternity brother.
I think he just likes that I am always wanting to buy more guns and ammo.
Isn't that the truth? Simple suicide under a large investigation by the FBI according to the OK Homeland Security on Channel 9 tonight. Just move on, nothing to see here.
This is real life. At least i think I'm alive.
I am guessing the families of the 21 dead in the boat accident take their lives seriously as well.
My point was that, at that time, we did not have enough facts to know that this was a terror attack. And in fact we didn't have enough facts to know that the boat wasn't a terror attack.
So far as I can tell, the only person dead in Oklahoma is a person who built a bomb. We don't know why he built the bomb, but I doubt anybody here feels too sorry for him.
I'm guessing people feel really bad about the boat deaths.
It could well be that Joel was an islamic terrorists with two co-conspirators, and that there were multiple unexploded backpacks found and there is a big coverup.
We just don't have the facts to conclude that yet. We have some facts, and a lot of speculation, misreports, and 2nd and 3rd-hand reports. Which is normal for a fluid situation.
The one thing I am NOT buying right now is that all the news outlets have joined in a pact to hide any information about a terror attack in Oklahoma. Could be incompetence, but not a coordinated supression of information.
I wouldn't be here if I didn't think there was a chance this would turn into a big story. I want to sort out the various posts to figure out what is factual.
I think any sane American would not be connected to the Islams. He had some kind of problems. Maybe it was the way he was raised. You gotta blame somebody.
Thanks for your reports, PhilKapMom. Much appreciated.
You know, he is a former US Senator and a former Governor of Oklahoma. He's a Democrat, so I instinctively distrust him. That said, I think he is rightly respected for all the good things he has done for OU in the past ten years. In this case, he seems trapped by the always harmful "see no evil" approach. It is simply better to say "we don't know" than to insist on something that can later be shown to be untrue. There's a difference between reassurance through strength, and reassurance through baseless assertion.
I hope it was a lone, sad person, but something just stinks about the whole thing right now.
well, either that ot he was a DUer who read the Daily Kos article wanting streets turned into "rivers of blood."
What if he didn't know that he was going to be killed, and somebody else detonated the explosives he had on him or with him? That would explain the timing being off regarding the number of people who would have been there if the game had gone as scheduled.
Perhaps he was expected to have been at a different location at that time, and there was a timer set in the explosives.
I know it's just speculation on my part, but it just seems to be an odd choice for a method of suicide unless he intended to take a number of people with him.
My tinfoil hat is getting overheated, I know. lol.
I think the point he was trying to make is that the guy wasn't a Muslim, but people were very eager to jump to that conclusion and use it as a basis for the deportation of all Muslims. Also, those without 'Arabic sounding names' are more likely to be full US citizens, so I'm not sure where they'd be deported to. I also don't know where you'd deport 'white' muslims to. With regards to the news. Well, it's what people want to hear, really isn't it?
