From Staff Reports
NORMAN -- An explosion near the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Memorial Stadium killed one person Saturday, OU officials said.

The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department.

The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State.

After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.

This seems to be the street that goes south off of Boyd. It is not a traffic circle, it just leads into the University, I think adminstration offices, but not 100% sure on that.

This bombing stinks of the first 'attempted' homicide bombing on US soil.

There are those who think that the McVeigh Oklahoma City bombing was alQ-related

I honestly don't know of any pipe bomb that would shake a college football stadium.

The reports of a second device are already being denied this morning. A rewrite IMO.

It seems kind of unlikely to me that a person bent only on committing suicide would have built an extra explosive device and brought it with him, just in case he needed it.

He might have intended to set them both off at once, and one of them malfunctioned.

I don't know how to post a graphic--too new here at posting.

You need the legend that goes with it, with the key numbers.

The stadium is obvious, but the building described is #31, the taller building just west of the stadium, George Lynn Cross Hall, the Botany/Microbiology building.

Meaning little to go on to assume it was part of a failed terrorist attack. That was the arguement with some when I posted that LAST NIGHT ..People were in "assumption" mode last night and it was turning this story into another 9/11..Just woke up here and it looks like the story hasen't moved much since last night .

I found this one.

#48 is the botany/microbiology building.

Looks like there's good size parking lot right there.

If this was a suicide bomber, I'd bet his bomb went off early and he was waiting for the crowds of people leaving the game to walk by him.

Maybe I should put on my tinfoil hat here, but I'm wondering if the MSM is intentionally downplaying this story. I thought it would be the lead story on FOX News this morning but instead it was halfway through the broadcast before it was mentioned and then it was for only a few seconds....

Just found over at CNN there is video of a statement read by an authority on the scene last night. He stated that a second device was found. The statement was apparently the first made by the school's president...

Here is the link to the page at CNN:
http://www.cnn.com/video/

The video is the first under U.S. titled;
Explosion occurs near U.S. Stadium

My oldest son was at the game last night with his friends. and he said it was loud but did not mention that it shook the stadium. He said that he got a nauseated feeling in his stomach when it went off, and it was not exactly like the ruf/neks guns going off, as others have described it. I guess it sounds and feels different to different people describe it.

according to phikapmom, a kid's face was very red - he was nearby - burns?

It could be that, or it could be "flash"-- the hard actinic light, rich in ultraviolet and infrared radiation. Like a giant flashbulb, if you are old enough to remember those things.
