Got me there ! My babelfish wouldn't bite.
Does 'Black Tom' ring a bell? N. J. in WW I. German sabotage.
The link also told me something I didn't know before: that the British blockaded the US in the 20th century - specifically in 1915.
Yeah, I know what you mean... I have the same feeling when I see that a story originated from the NY Times or Associated Press...
I saw a pretty big ammo explosion in Quang Tri `71.It wasn`t an accident tho.NVA sappers blowed her up pretty good.
About 3 in the morning it started blowing, everyone came outside to see what was going on.Anyway the whole compound was awake so the cooks started cooking and we got our chairs out and ate and watched the show till dawn.
We had to put up a lot refugees, sorry displaced homeless personel.
I find it hard to believe anything in th NY Times, Reuters, AP, Washington Post or The LA Times.
Once a guy was trying to sell me a subscription to the LA Times & I told him "No Thank You". He asked why & I replied "because the paper is completely biased". He responded......"Not the Sports Section!" I could not help but laugh as it was so darn funny....sad & true...but funny.
I guess that is my excuse as well....The wine I am drinking now resembles cranberry juice.
its almost Ramalamadingdong, Beware of TROP!
hahhahahhahahha
You can get all you want from the plant at Salt Lake City. They used to make it do supply the Cambodians. I "owned" an entire magazine full of it in Vietnam. Good trading material.
Guess who gets to clean those up?

...
LOL! Figured that one out all by yourself, did ya.
That struck me as funny, for some reason.
"Something makes me wonder if there is something in the water there."
Russia has never been a first-world country. Even at the apex of the USSR, they were a third-world country with bought and stolen first-world weapons that they couldn't maintain properly.
That was interesting ! I pulled duty for a while at a Naval Ammunition Depot---that lost most of one pier when a sailor dropped a (fused) rocket. That was during WWII also.
The New Jersey incident (at Black Tom Island, in Jersey City) was in World War I, but while the U.S. was still neutral. It was probably German sabotage, but exactly who did it was never determined.
You served during WWII?
No. I'm not QUITE that old---but getting there !
The explosion happened during WWII. As of- let me see-1955-the old pier had not been rebuilt.
Ah, I see. So, you were serving when I was four.
Thanks.
