Thanks- I had not seen those links.
I've actually thought this may be one of the reasons...especially since he originally wasn't going to indict Delay. He changed his mind for some reason.
Tom Delay is coming up on Hume's show.
Brit on FoxNews just made that point
After break DeLay will be on with Brit Hume
Just during a disaster, and this, for about a year.
Things that make you go, "hmmmmmm."
Could be. More of them are criminals.
I don't post often but trust me I read you guys every day and I'm on your side.
Perhaps. But color me a little bemused that the one time you chime in in the last month -- and one of two times in the last year -- is when you have something that might be construed as being in defense of the out-of-control Travis County prosecutor Earle.
Michael Medved explained that Texas has had a uniquely conservative Democratic element in its legislature which falls in line with the Republicans on voting and shares their goodwill. Earl has prosecuted many of these "Democrats", mostly unsuccessfully.
Yeah...Delay just said that when it was all Democrats, he went after all the conservative Democrats, including the Lt. Governor.
Appreciate it- thank you.
I hope this comes back to bite Earle in the butt so bad he has to have reconstructive surgery on his posterior.
A Travis County, Texas grand jury indicted House Majority Leader Tom DeLay on a single charge of conspiracy to violate state campaign-finance laws earlier today-- Ronnie Earle has tried to derail DeLay for years, and he has conducted himself in a most partisan fashion in doing it. Rather than investigate these charges in a clearheaded, direct, and nonpartisan manner, Earle has made no bones about his personal and political vendetta. He has openly used this investigation as a Democratic Party fundraising device, charging up Democratic rallies such as one last May that raised over $100,000, featuring Earle on the stump talking about the case and DeLay. According to the American Bar Association Canon of Ethics, Earle has violated DR7-107(A) as well as (B)(1). He also has clearly violated EC8-8, which states that lawyers who serve as public officers "should not engage in activities in which his personal or professional interests are or foreseeably may be in conflict with his official duties."
That has nothing to do with any question of whether DeLay violated the law, of course, but it has plenty to do with whether Earle presented a balanced and honest case to the Travis County grand jury. I suspect that his political ambitions come before his desire to see that justice is done in Travis County, and just like his ill-starred indictment against the diminutive Kay Bailey Hutchinson for battery, it will probably get a quick dismissal from the first judge to review it. Besides, as the American Spectator points out, the activity that garnered Earle's attention hardly qualifies as unique:
Michelle Malkin has plenty of links at her site, but make sure to read the e-mail she received from former DoJ official Barbara Comstock --
Don't be surprised to find this indictment quashed within a few weeks.
Actually Roy Blunt is going to "run the show".
I don't think the word is bemused. Maybe confused.
I can't stand Earle and I think this is sickening and the worse politics I've seen in a long time.
Delay also noted on Hume's show that Earle contacted him back in August to basically blackmail him into extending the statute of limitations on this case...claiming he would have to immediately indict him if he didn't get the 30-day extension. Delay said no problem, because he new there was nothing there and he wanted to get it over with. So, even after cooperating to this extraordinary level, Earle still indicts him. What a POS.
I'm looking for an article I read this afternoon about the corporate contributions Ronnie Earle received for his D.A. campaign. Do you remember seeing it?
