[history]
Hours before New Orleans Police Superintendent Eddie Compass announced his resignation, Tony relayed some hot information he had heard from his Capitol Hill sources. It regarded an FBI investigation currently under way.
You can go to the source above and listen to that segment of his radio show.

As a native Louisianan, I'm offended by that remark! It should be "Louisiana is the northernmost Banana Republic."
LOL!
Sorry, won't happen again! ;-)

Is there any relation to Elodia Blanco and the Governor Blanco? Unknown. There has been some discussion about it in this thread, but there's been nothing found conclusive. Elodia's black, but her husband Juan (dead since he was murdered in 2000) may have been somehow related to the Gov's hubby.

Oh, we've got that right here in Chicago too. Now that the Feds are peeking into NO city affairs, we'll smell the stink of dirty laundry. BTW, former IL Gov in on trial right now for scams. In Chicago the fallout isn't over our hired truck scam. Beat me to it! I was gonna state that if the N.O.LA slime and corruption weren't balanced by Chi-IL, then the entire lower 48 would tip over. I don't think we'll see either cesspool cleaned up in our lifetimes.

In honor of your tagline I give you this, with the warmest, (or should I say War-mest), regards.
Just little bit of info. I was "pre-viewing" this post and my 7 y.o. daughter saw the picture and said, "is that a lady or a man?"

Maybe it wasn't suicide!!

The Port of NO is important to the economy of the country & it's not possible to operate a port without a certain amount of people to work it. Let it become the Crescent City again in reality & you've saved most of the historical NO ^ you should be able to have a sufficient population necessary to do what the city is meant to do. Also, it would allow for some of the swamplands to get reclaimed, so would lessen the probability of continuing disasters there.

Isn't it 7 years for tax records? Yes, that is the standard.

OK. I am only about 1/3 through all the posts and have read 3 times that the the 2 Blancos can't be related because one is white and one is black.
#1 Black and white marriages are not that uncommon anymore.
#2 Some women choose to keep their maiden names and some will take their husbands name.
I'm not saying they are related, I have no idea. But to say they aren't, in some way, just based on the color factor is a little naive. Start thinking of possibilities (nieces, nephews, brothers, cousins, etc.)
If someone has brought this up in a post I haven't gotten to yet, I am sorry for repeating.

James Sensenbrenner R-WI,voted against the $52 billion aid package to help people of the Gulf Coast region rebuild after Hurricane Katrina. The reason he voted against was that he felt that relief should be sent in increments. He wasn't saying no relief, he was saying "let's take care of the emergencies now and provide relief in increments later."
I am sure that LA politicians are slapping their brains out of the top their heads with their tongues, in a Pavlovian sense of speaking, at the thought of a $52,000,000,000 windfall. I am sure that they are beside themselves in anticipation of receiving all that money.
Looks like somebody (the feds) will and should put the brakes on this shameful transference of money into the pockets of corrupt public servants.

"The New Orleans Police Department will establish a tribunal to determine whether 249 officers had valid reasons for being AWOL during Hurricane Katrina." I think it might have been a lot more fun if the FBI had kept quiet about this until after the "tribunal" had issued a "report"! :)

It might be cheaper on taxpayers if we bought all of them a house, a car, stocked their cupboards with groceries in another city, showed them the way to the welfare office, and leave New Orleans beneath sea level. The idea of giving corrupt politicians billions of dollars with no accountability doesn't sound wise to me, given their past history of corruption. The government mishandled money that the feds gave them to fix the levees before.
After seeing the destruction caused by two back to back hurricanes, I do NOT approve of rebuilding New Orleans. They are below sea level, in an area that could be leveled in the future by another hurricane. The storm surge in southwest LA went as far back as 20 miles, and would have wiped out the entire city of New Orleans had it hit them head on. We have MS, AL, FL, LA, TX and NC who have all had tremendous losses due to hurricanes, and they all need help. We can't just forget about them because of NO. FL had 4 or 5 hurricanes last year.
With insurance damage claims so high, it's going to send all of OUR premiums through the roof because they have to make money some way. Eventually, no insurance company is going to insure them. No one is more sorry about what happened than I am, and I pray for all of them, but that's the risk they take if they are going to live in hurricane prone areas. Sure, it's beautiful but, it's NOT worth the risk so I wouldn't do it. I don't feel good about having to pay for them to enjoy living close to the ocean. At what point do we say that we can't afford it so if you want to live there, you're on your own? Before anyone flames me, it won't change my mind. LOL It's NOT personal, it's just a winless situation. My niece and her family live in New Orleans and my brother lives in Mobile, close to Mobile Bay. I would tell them the same thing.

Katrina turned over a big rock. What are you talking about? Any attempt to question the integrity of New Orleans government is clearly racism! I smell Bull Connor! Move along now, and sign the check. /sarcasm
