The Left are all using D.C. Police chief Charles Ramsey to confirm their claim of a huge turn-out for the 24 September 2005 Anti-War rally held in Washington. Most accounts say that the Chief "...did not dispute..." the claim of 100,000 people or more after viewing the protestor's along their marching route.
What the Chief said was actually quite different:
From the Seattle Times Protest organizers estimated 300,000 people participated, triple their original target. District of Columbia Police Chief Charles Ramsey, who walked the march route, said the protesters achieved their goal of 100,000 and probably exceeded it. Asked if at least 150,000 showed up, he said, "That's as good a guess as any."
This shoulds more like a "No Comment" that a confirmation.... IMHO.

And it was still a flop.
Who cares?
cindy was arrested outside the WH!!
,,,,this "protest" was nothing but a flash-back to the '60's Vietnam anti-war protests.....same great unwashed, same irrelevant, same life-losers, and the same self-absorbed liberals...nothing new....
what a waste of gasoline, the enviro's should be livid
300,000,000 call the U.S. home
300,000 (maximum)waste a good days work to show up at a rally.
1/1,000 in the U.s.
.1% of the populace.
More than likely, it is .05%, or even less.
Who cares?
coming soon: cindy streaks at the Met.
They make it a point not to engage in crowd estimation for just this reason. Once teh overhead helicopter pictures are made available we'll all know what the "true" number is, in spite of what these folks say.
I believe it is standard policy for officials NEVER to offer a comment on the turnout of a protest or support march.
Actually, probably some of the same people.
Doesn't matter whether they had 100,000 or a million, the only way we would get out of Iraq now is for congress to shut down funding of the war and that's not gonna happen. They can protest, throw tantrums or whatever they choose but they are wasting their time.
Good! She has earned the right to be locked up in a rubber room!
SIN-dy and the Loonettes (Rev Al, Belafonte, Cynthia?) all joined together at the rally sign. If you didn't think SIN-dy was looney before the march, just look at who she associates with.
She's toast.
Nowadays with tracking satellites and other forms of technology you'd think there'd be a way to figure out how many people are at these things.
In any case, i wonder how many were actually working taxpaying citizens who seriously believe we should get out of Iraq. Surely there were a tiny minority. All I saw on TV were professional leftist activists and people who hate America and all we stand for.
I guess she didn't know what to do with herself today...
My husband and I had always heard that pro-life rallies were notoriously undercounted. So he, the Ph.D in math, counted a march in Boston, as it went by - no more than six abreast on the sidewalk, with a couple hundred left on the Common. He got 4000.
Police said 15,000. Organizers said 20,000. We really would have liked it to be that many, but it wasn't. I tend to doubt any really large estimate, unless you have a mathematician counting people as they file past, or looking at an aerial photograph.
I have seen the DC police Chief, I have listened to him , I doubt seriously he can count to 1,000, much less 100,000.
Ask the Vendors how many Hot Dogs they sold.
