I arrived in DC yesterday to attend the Support Our Troops Rally. I would guess approx. 200 people were there to support our troops. We arrived at the "Mission Rally" around 12:30. From there the group moved a few blocks to our designated area to 'counter' protest the anti-American, anti-troops protesters. We were seperated by waist high railings and a police line. Our 'area' was about a block long infront of the J. Edgar Hoover Bldg. I don't know where the protesters march orginated but they arrived in our area around 2pm. We left shortly after 5pm at which time the protesters were nearing an end. I would estimate their number to be around 20,000 to 30,000. However I read his morning there were 100,000. Their number is hard to estimate as we noticed some of the same people going through the march repeatedly.
To me, the protesters seemed to be a splintered group. Many depicted out and out hatred for the current Administraton. The remainder appeared to me to be divided between protesting the war, the military and freedom. Within 3 minutes of them arriving in our area I was spat upon. Many of them donned kerchiefs which eerily resembled terrorists. The angry protesters fluxuated between the 'peace' sign and the 'middle finger' salute. Our group remained cohesive in their support of our troops and the war we are waging against terrorism.
I came away with a feeling of a common bond that united complete strangers of all ages.
I am extremely happy with my decision to come to DC. I met many people here from all over the country who strongly support our troops and understand why we are fighting terrorism "over there" instead of here.I will stay for the rally tomorrow which I understand will be covered live by CSPAN beginning at 12pm .
Will be leaving shortly to go to the Rally to Honor Military Families. GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS!

Oh rats, I missed me again..MudBoy, we was on de tv agin
What's worse, you missed it again....it was on again on Brit.
Get up at 5:00 tomorrow and watch. Fox repeats everything for viewers elsewhere.
Brit repeats again at midnight Eastern time (which is NOT past my bedtime here in the mountain west). Will make it a point to watch tonight.
AMM, you were AWESOME. I had heard you speak, but my vantage point didn't allow a good viewing.
I had no idea you did all that stuff..words fail me...it was Ray-Ban Time.
And guess what this idiot DID NOT DO when he started the recorder last night?
This idiot forgot to set the ELP function on his VCR.
So, I'm going to buy or download the thing from CSPAN's website if I can.

I am just going to have to go from thread to thread to thank all of you over and over and over for such a fabulous weekend of FReeping, counter-protesting and rallying. The hard work you put in paid off and I can't tell you how important it was for our Military and their families to see this (including the McDonalds!).
I was only there on Saturday but am living it all through the reports!
Cpl. McDonald called today. He asked if we had read anything about his unit in the news yet. I didn't have the heart to tell him that unless Michael Yon embeds with them we won't be hearing about their heroic efforts... just the death count.
So stay motivated folks! You did a wonderful thing this weekend! As a wise FReeper said, "The media is the enemy of America - act accordingly!"
Walter Reed Friday night photos
I've been waiting for these!! I haven't even looked at them yet, if I have anything to add I will.
It was my pleasure and an honor.
I'd like to meet that guy, head on. What an unbelievable disgrace. What a piece of used food. What a sissy. What an ignorant, self indulgent, self righteous punk. He should take that sign to a military town and walk around off base. He wouldn't have the guts.
