(Charles City - KCRG) -- Noel Miller's fiancé Casey Frederiksen is in a hospital after attempting suicide Wednesday night. Noel is the mother of murder victim Evelyn Miller.
It's been three months since the five-year-old girl's death. Investigators still have not arrested anyone in connection to the case. Thursday, Noel talked to KCRG-TV9 News about what led Casey to hurt himself.
Police drove Frederiksen to a Charles City hospital around 7:00 p.m. Noel said she was shocked when she watched Frederiksen cut his wrist. "I was just...Oh my God. I couldn't believe what he was doing. I called 911, and I was trying to get the knife away and the cops were trying to mace him. They took his arm and he slammed the arm he cut...slammed it over his head. Then, he broke his rib. And, his collar bone is all messed up," Miller said.
Miller says a number of things prompted Frederiksen to cut his wrist. "The enforcement, and [Floyd County Attorney] Marilyn Dettmer and no answers to Evelyn's death. The people are still out running in the streets. He just doesn't know what to do anymore," she said.
Diane Miller is Noel's mom. She says Frederiksen has trouble with anger sometimes, but he would never hurt anyone but himself. "He never lashes out at a person. He'll lash out at a tree, a wall, a steel post, my car. But, he's never bodily harmed nobody but himself," Diane Miller said.
Noel says she still wants to find Evelyn's killer. But, now she's worried about Casey, too. "He's doing ok. He's just a little frustrated, and doesn't know how to deal with things so he lashes out on himself," Noel Miller said.
Frederiksen is in a Mason City hospital now under observation. Noel expects him to be back at home in Charles City on Monday.

I haven't followed the case. Please forgive me if I'm way off base, but I would now consider him a major suspect.

Is it just me, or does Noel seem to be an enabler/apologist for this guy?
C'mon, at least read the article. "He's just a little frustrated" is all. ;)
Who writes these articles? That is some of the most screwed up and mangled English that I have seen in any media article. Looks like it went through Babelfish twice. Did the "journalist" finish grade school?
Well there you have it. Obviously he would never harm a child.
Used to be that country songwriters finished 6th, maybe 8th grade and "journalists" had to at least go to college. It's all changed now.
But, my thoughts on reading this is that the cops ought to be seriously looking at this guy now if they weren't already. Live-in boyfriends and daughters are predictable disasters.
Oh yes, the live in boyfriend looks guilty as can be.
Yeah! Don't you know that it is standard behavior for people to slit their wrists when they are frustrated?(Not)
Seriously, this guy is a nut case.
Not just Noel, but her mother, too. Whole family with bad judgment, it appears.
People that want to commit suicide never do that in front of other people.
I'm not up on all the details of this story....are there children remaining in the home?
I think the two surviving children -- the ones actually fathered by Frederiksen (the "fiancé") -- were removed to foster care, and that Miller and Frederiksen are in the process of trying to get them back.
ummm yea...he's got that OJ kind of innocence going.
Most loving mothers who have had their baby girl murdered under the "stressed out boyfriend's" watch should have a suspicion or two about his freak out.
not Noel apparently, and her mother doesn't sound much better.
Thankfully the authorities in Iowa finally acted on the reports on these parents and have taken custody of two very young boys (younger than the murdered 5 yr old)
