A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest! We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

"Wear Red" Friday
You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.
Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.
received this in my email June 10th, the author is unknown. I am wearing red today and every Friday ~ Billie

Happy Kiss Day, Everyone!
Interesting to analyze my poetry for what does not appear.
The word "kiss" does not show up often, for example. Here's one place...
Sunwink
Ive always loved the sunset,
A bow upon the day,
Thats been wrapped up in lovingness,
All set to put away.
To place among the memories,
Of happy days gone by,
For times when things dont go so well,
On days that make you cry.
A sunrise is as lovely,
But colder is its way,
More distant in the joyfulness,
That happens every day.
Though lens cant separate them,
The difference is this,
The sunrise is a promise,
And sunset is a kiss.

Hello! :)
I'm wondering if you could point me to someone around here that might be able to help me.
I'm having minor problems with my '84 Dodge Ram's lighting system. Since my "mechanic" is in Kuwait, and I don't have a lot of money, I'm trying to fix it myself...just can't seem to pinpoint the problem. I've checked bulbs and fuses...I can go into further detail if anyone can help.
Thanks!

I will try to describe the best I can...
A couple of days ago I dimmed my headlights to pass a car, when trying to turn high beams back on, I ended up with no light at all. Low beams work, but not high. A couple of days before that, the turn signals stopped flashing...usually tells me I have a light out somewhere. So I checked all of my lights, and aside from the high beams, the driver side tail light is out. I replaced the bulb, checked the fuses, the turn signal lights up, and the breaks light up, but no tail light. I'm thinking it's something electrical somewhere, but don't know much about electrical systems, especially on vehicles.

I have pretty much resigned myself to taking it to the mechanic...was just trying to avoid another bill...so don't feel bad if you can't help long distance. :)

It's definetley electrical, sounds like either the flasher unit under the dashboard usually connected to the fuse panel, or the directional switch right on the steering column.
Do you have an Autozone near by? They do free testing.

Hope someone can solve this riddle, mrst...
When my husband was in Southeast Asia for a year, I had sons 13 and 14 and daughter 5 - was alone with no family nor close friends near - and was blessed to have NO car trouble that year!

Thanks! So far I've only had minor issues that I have enough mechanical knowledge to take care of. I'm very thankful. I just wish I knew more about wiring and stuff to be able to track down the problem.
Glad to see you. Sorry I haven't been around more. I've missed you!

I'm sure that all who come to The Finest of FR regard you as one of "Our" National Treasures, snugs!!
I toast you with a popular song I remember from my childhood during WWII - -
There'll Always Be An England
I give you a toast, ladies and gentlemen.
I give you a toast, ladies and gentlemen.
May this fair dear land we love so well
In dignity and freedom dwell.
Though worlds may change and go awry
While there is still one voice to cry - - -
There'll always be an England
While there's a country lane,
Wherever there's a cottage small
Beside a field of grain.
There'll always be an England
While there's a busy street,
Wherever there's a turning wheel,
A million marching feet.
Red, white and blue; what does it mean to you?
Surely you're proud, shout it aloud,
"Britons, awake!"
The empire too, we can depend on you.
Freedom remains. These are the chains
Nothing can break.
There'll always be an England,
And England shall be free
If England means as much to you
As England means to me.

Do you know how Mrs.Mike31 is?

She is staying busy with homeschooling this year. Her husband was deployed to LA after Katrina. They aren't saying when those guys might be home. A lot of the guys that were with Tank on his first tour are down there now. She and I seem to have opposite schedules these days, but if I catch up with her, I'll tell her you said hi, and suggest she stop in sometime.
(((hugs)))
