Extremely dangerous Category 5 Hurricane Rita continues to threaten the Greater Houston Metropolitan area. The forecast track has shifted slightly to the northeast, increasing the risk to Southwest Louisiana, and a significant portion of the oil and gas operations in the Gulf of Mexico. Texas Governor Perry is urging all coastal residents between Beaumont and Corpus Christi to evacuate as soon as possible.

You forgot Geraldo 'rescuing" Daisy the Dog.
That's PHILIPPE. Not much left of it.

Interesting... that's basically what my son said this afternoon... (except the MSM part.. laugh.. he's NOT the news junkie the rest of the family is). It made sense to me tho'... If we have to take a hit - New Orleans would be the best place... Before it really starts getting rebuilt.
(3) hit post only once
They get your heart pumping, that's for sure. I'm a California native now living in Las Vegas...the ground is very still here. A good thunderstorm/flash flood is about as close as Mother Nature gets around here.
You need to delete this post. Gas ranges and propane are two different things.
I heard John mention that too. I just wonder if they have their camera at a spot that it is not allowing traffic to flow out from incoming lanes???
The NOAA flight came in from the northeast, found 123 knot flight-level winds 33 degrees true and 12 nm out from the eyewall (which does not beat 133-knot winds found in the northwest quadrant earlier in the flight). It fixed the eye at 2043 zulu (3:43 pm CDT) at 25 degrees 50 minutes north 89 degrees 25 minutes west, measured a sea-level pressure of 911 mb there, and found a closed double eyewall. The inner eyewall is 15 nm wide and the outer eyewall is 40 nm wide and contracting.
I just wanted to repeat your important post from earlier - (#2,162)
Joe Bastardi's words per my tape:
"3-6am landfall within 25-30 miles of Galveston (either side). Take 45 up to Dallas, that the storm stays within 35 miles of I-45 to Dallas, gets up there Sun. night or Monday. Turns around and comes back SW down I-35 towards San Antonio and down towards Loredo and winds up in S. Texas Mon. or Tues. of next week. Let's see how good that track does. It's going to make a big loop in TX., come in, approx. uses the I-4 corridor off to almost Dallas and then turn around and come back toward the SW."
Propane is used in gas ranges in millions of homes.
Propane is safe in doors. As long as the bottle doesn't leak you got no problem. It will burn clean and you wont' blow the house up.
If I'm correct, Sugar Land is a pretty crime-free, straight-up area, right?
Or no?
Do you really worry about looting in a good area? I'd think looters would avoid the good areas because they know the locals will be waiting for 'em.
Maybe the rain will clean some of the poop off the streets left by Katrina.
Which levees? Still the ones connected to the lake? I know they have been concerned about some that never breeched but I've never heard which ones. As always, I'm concerned about the river levy.
Heard 98º a little while ago.
My computer crashed this morning so I haven't had a chance to log in until coming to the office and getting my chores done. What's the latest as of 4 p.m.? Thanks.
The 1911, no matter what the grip, just doesn't index or balance "right" in my hand. Unfortunately.
I tried the Hungarian ripoff of the BHP-DA in .45 ACP, the GKK-45. It balanced right, but was an enormous POS.
The Saiga is a high-quality AK, with all that that implies. The accuracy problem isn't a problem for a shotgun. :)
a 4.4 is a jiggle, in California-ese.
If we have to take a hit - New Orleans would be the best place... Before it really starts getting rebuilt.
I thought the same thing.... but NOLA gov't is something I just can not handle hearing from over and over.... Nagin is nagin me wayyyyyyyyy to much.
