A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Even though it probably still feels like summer, fall is upon us - for tomorrow is the first day of Autumn. September 22nd marks the 2005 autumnal equinox, when night and day are of equal length.
Ready or not, the sun will be setting earlier and the days will become shorter. Sadly for some of us and happily for others, it's time to say goodbye to summer. Crisp mornings, autumn leaves, and frosty pumpkins are right around the corner. |
For man, autumn is a time of harvest, of gathering together. For nature, it is a time of sowing, of scattering abroad. - Edwin Way Teale
And, for sports fans, it's time for...

Anything your fuzzy little heart desires is wolfie's command. Uh....don't take that literally. LOL *sigh* So I guess this means you still won't let me drive your pretty white Corvette? :-(

Always good to have you come by and say hello. Are you ready for autumn? It must be breathtaking up in Maine in the fall.

It is. Autumn is my favorite time of year. Unfortunately this year it is a bit bittersweet. I had been looking forward on taking motorcycle rides through the White Mountains this fall with hubby. That's going to have to wait another year.
I guess that's part of why I haven't been around much. I know we volunteered for him to go back over. This is what we felt like we needed to do. I'm just having a hard time with all of the things that I said last year he would be here to do this year, but he's not. Since I know I'm probably not that pleasant to be around, I've been trying to keep to myself.

Thank your husband for his service.
God bless him and you.
If you ever feel down go to the Canteen thread.
We are there for our Troops and their family members and all are welcome.

Well, bless your heart, mrstank. Your sacrifice and his is appreciated more than I can say, but I know that is small consolation when you miss him so much and when your plans have to be put on hold.
God bless you both and may this year speed by and bring him back home to you soon. :-)

:) Thanks. I'm on the ping list, and sometimes MS. B will coax me over there. It's a busy thread and I get lost sometimes though. My computer time is hit and miss these days, and when there are so many posts, I have a hard time keeping up.

It helps to know that people really do appreciate it.
I'm usually able to stay busy and not think about it, but the past few weeks have been hard for various reasons. It'll get better.
Maybe I'll be able to go for a shorter trip by myself during peak color. I've just started learning to ride this year and don't like venturing too far from home by myself yet. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
