A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Even though it probably still feels like summer, fall is upon us - for tomorrow is the first day of Autumn. September 22nd marks the 2005 autumnal equinox, when night and day are of equal length.

Ready or not, the sun will be setting earlier and the days will become shorter. Sadly for some of us and happily for others, it's time to say goodbye to summer. Crisp mornings, autumn leaves, and frosty pumpkins are right around the corner.

For man, autumn is a time of harvest, of gathering together.
For nature, it is a time of sowing, of scattering abroad.

Have we made up? : )

Well, I'm not quite sure. Maybe you better do that one more time. LOL!!! ;-)

Anything your fuzzy little heart desires is wolfie's command. Uh....don't take that literally. LOL

Now, I need to answer a couple more pings and leave for a bit. TTYL, charmin' wolfie.

Later, babebear. : )

Autumn Leaves

by Eve Merriam

Down
down
down
Red
yellow
brown
Autumn leaves tumble down,
Autumn leaves crumble down, Flaking and shaking,
Tumbledown leaves.

Skittery
Flittery
Rustle by
Hustle by
Crackle and crunch
In a snappety bunch.

Run and catch
Run and catch
Butterfly leaves
Sailboat leaves
Windstorm leaves.
Can you catch them?

Swoop,
Scoop,
Pile them up
In a stompy pile and
Jump
Jump
JUMP!

GOD BLESS AMERICA

Thanks! It took a while to find the right poem for the leaves!

When I get started on it, I have to totally concentrate or I make mistakes! :o)

Maybe our PC *guru-ettes* (Billie and Lori) will find out for sure and solve the prob for everyone. : )

That's a joke, right?! I mean, calling me a *guru-ette*. :) Though I have found some and you have given me some great forums and pc websites to look for answers to things that are a real mystery to me. *They* are the gurus!

Aqua, as several of us talked about yesterday, and as Louie first replied to you this morning, much of it is in our monitor settings, as well as how old our monitors are (my earliest problem a couple of years ago)

I trust Lori's calibrations completely, because hers *have* to be true to do the kind of work their photography studio relies upon. The colors she described seeing yesterday were exactly the colors they were to me - a soft coffee brown and periwinkle blue - though I think I called the gradient bg a steel blue gradient.

What color did *you* see the backgrounds yesterday - brown or charcoal? My monitor also looks a different color or shade depending on the angle I'm viewing it, which is why an LCD (*they* say) is supposed to be sitting just the right height for your line of vision and not slanted or tilted at all. I can see how it could look a dark charcoal grey, because depending on where I was looking at it, it *did* look that color. But the flat-on, straight-ahead line of vision is a soft brown. :)

Other things that affect the color are whether the monitor has been calibrated to show all the colors as true as you can get them. There are lots and lots of charts for *calibrating* - search Google and you'll see - but Lori's hubby has a no-fail one that he sent to help me a couple of years ago when I was having trouble getting used to an LCD monitor.

*guru-ette billie* signing off. :)
