A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day....09-19-05....Military Monday

A Few of FR's Finest
....Every Day
FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders;  tell a few jokes;  learn a new word;  write poetry;  pray for those in need;  and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I could no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I had been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.
Still that didn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why we've created a place for just that. This is a friendly room in JimRob's house where FReeper FRiends can gather every day and just say hello if that's all they want to do.
There's more of course. We sometimes feature different FReepers, with a little background information on who they are and what makes them who they are, along with a few photos you might not have seen on other threads; sometimes others write an essay for us to post as the feature for the day; sometimes our presentation is a human interest story found elsewhere that you might not have read; sometimes special holiday threads; but whatever the topic of the day, it is always with FR's Finest in mind and that is YOU!
If you would like to be featured, or would like to see someone else featured, please send me a private FR mail.
Every Monday we will post the photos of FR's Military Personnel that I have collected and put into groups; these will be available to view through a link the remainder of the week - every day just a click away. :)   If you would like to add a photo of yourself or a loved one in the military, past or present, please let me know; I will hold it until I have enough for a new group.
Thank you, and please have fun with us...every day! ~ Billie

You are supposed to be the strong person, and most often are for everyone ELSE's sake.. but it does build & finally there is the event / death that breaks the camel's back.

You DO understand, don't you? Thanks for the song. I do keep my eyes on Jesus. If I didn't I would be totally useless to anyone. Even with Him, I'm a poor example of a strong person.

Thank you for the prayers, Rus. And you are in my prayers too. I know you have had a lot to contend with this summer also. I pray that the election mess gets settled very soon....and in your favor, or according to God's plan.

Carrie's description of her dream was awesome. I will have to get a copy from her mother.

Hot baths help me a bit.. and I use a bath product called cold & sinus.. there are two types (I get them at Wallmart). One is a bath salt & the other is a liquid. Just add to bath. SMells good & I like to think it helps. I think just the hot water/steam are good. Take care Bro Rus.. all of us seem to have our challenges in life. GOing to crash soon. Hello to the lovely Jules..

"All the sadness has left me feeling drained, and I have to be at the hospital at 7:30 a.m. for my surgery."

Wish I could take all the sadness away from you. Just know, that there are folks that are thinking of you.

My thoughts and prayers will be with you tomorrow, Nan. Take Care and God Bless. Which book are you going to read?

Probably my study Bible. I've been reading "Legacy" about Bill Clinton, but it's too depressing to take, LOL.

Nan, I learned some disturbing things today about my opponents smear campaign against me. That is another reason to leave it in The Lords hands.

Do you remember last November when Jul got fired from her school bus driving job because she told the kids about the exciting news about stem cell research?

All she did was tell the students about Mel Gibson's news that adult stem cell showed much better results and 23 years of proof of healing and recovery.

Well they have taken this to the extreme and twisted it around and are telling people that Jul told people that Kerry will kill babies if elected and was educating the kids on her bus using the PA system on stem cell research.

My problem with this is not just that it is an out right lie and twisting of the facts, my opponent is supposed to be a professing Christian and a beleiver. He should share our views on embryonic stem cell research.

If he knew and condones this smear campaign full of lies he is guilty and has to answer to a higher judge than just the people. If he doesn't know about it (it would be hard to beleive) then I feel it is my responsibility to tell him so.

What do you think as a Pastor? I feel the need to email him and inform him about this and basically confront him as a Brother in Christ. It tells us to do so in Matthew.

I know you are Amy, that's why I just had to check in tonight. As the quote says: "You are the friends who lift me to my feet when my wings have trouble remembering how to fly."

Found it, Matthew 18

15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.

16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.

17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.

Those are strong words but it is our responsibility.

Rus, I wish I could give you good advice. I can only say a prayer for you and yours and let you know that you have been in my thoughts. I was so hoping and praying that you would win. It was so very close.

My best to you, Jul's and your children

For the record, I share your views on embryonic stem cell research

Absolutely, you should tell him the truth and you should do it in person, not by e-mail. Ask to meet him for lunch somewhere or some other neutral place. Speak the truth to him and tell him that you know that, as a Christian, he wouldn't want to spread that kind of lie and that you know that he would agree with you about stem cell research. It's hard to confront people, but I find it is the best way to clear the air. I've been faced with those kinds of situations and I have always taken the confrontation approach. Straightforward. I had a woman who didn't believe in women preachers but she wouldn't say it to me. She talked against me behind my back. When I found out about it, I went to her house for a "visit". We sat in her front yard and I told her, "Betty, do you know what I like about you?" She was taken back a bit, but asked, "What?" I said, "I like your honesty. You're not afraid to say what's on your mind. So, I'm going to ask you this, "You really didn't want a woman preacher did you?" She was honest, "No, I didn't." I told her that I appreciated her honesty and I said, "I respect your opinion and we are straight with each other. Now, is there any reason why we can't be friends?" She laughed and we talked for about an hour. She gave me a rabbit doll she had made and we became good friends.

Appeal to the best in a person and they will usually respond in kind. Of course it doesn't work so well with liberals, LOL.

Thank you Colleen...

Only time will tell but I feel strongly that Bruce is guilty by association if he knows about this.

I do not want to judge, I have asked some good people and they agree.

This info came to me today from a trusted friend that had a talk with one of his campaign workers, and this was the topic of conversation.

I have always said, if you can't win on issues don't go negative or use character assasination. I never have and always ran clean campaigns although only 2. It is just common courtesy. If you can't win on issues then don't run.

I'll see what Nan says then ask my Pastor too.
