I was day-dreaming at work today.
I imagined President Bush would use this speech to remind people that the government is NOT responsible for us.
That it was a shame to see so many in such a state of poverty that they could not provide an exit for themselves.
That if so many dollars were not sucked up in welfare payments, they'd have the money for all the structural repairs, plus some.
That they only way out of poverty is hard work.
Then announce a big fat tax cut to businesses to help them grow and hire!
Oh man, that looks like me when I crawl out of bed in the morning, and I'm not a governor of a state in the US that's been hit by one of the worst hurricanes ever.

I do, too. Put all the residential stuff on higher ground, leave the hisorical area, and rebuild the dmaged sections of the port. Works for me...and if New Orleans citizens would think about it, they could come out ahead on this deal. Plus, the new community could have an interesting mix of architectural styles, greenspace, and small shops and restaurants. And the slums would be gone.
In CA my cable guide has it on CBS, PBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, FNC, pMSNBC, CNN at least.
Maybe the networks won't run it in prime time back east, anyone know?

I noted that only certain comments here, 40 minutes before speech time seem to be acceptable on this thread. But I do agree with you. I hope that isn't too risky.
