One more thing: Anyone else remember earlier on Drudge a blurb about the dims not being present at the beginning of the Roberts confirmation this morning? Can't help but wonder if they got a call about this ruling coming down and went into "panic" mode to deal with the talking points before coming out. I imagine it threw them as much as anyone. LAST thing they wanted to deal with today was the Pledge issue, which, IIRC, peaked the public's interest in Judicial Activism last time it hit the news.

Thank you for 'enlightening' me.

Rest assured, I have a full grasp of what has occured and the overall movement at play here. I suspect you do as well.

Well, privacy was never imtended by ANYONE to mean that society had no right to regulate sexual behavior. Note how the court quickly proceeded from guard marital privacy(Griswold) to formication to abortion. The State was stripped of the police power.

Didn't we just go through this?

Here in Idaho, which is in the 9th circuit, at football games and in schools, after the last 9th district ruling, people were doing so anyway, emphasizing very loudly the "under God" part, daring the courts to do anything about it.

This isn't to the circuit courts level yet...but it will get there and then have to go to the Supreme Court to get smacked down again.

I agree we are not using it that is for sure. Not surprising from the state that wants to allow gays to marry.

Speaking of nickels, have you seen one of the new 2005 buffalo nickels yet? Quite nicely done.

And they STILL say, "In God We Trust".

Another Kalifornia nutcase judge vying for a place on the Supreme Court list for the next Dimocrat president - if there ever is another one!

"How about suing them? Take a page from their playbook and sue them in every court in every state until they go bankrupt defending themselves. "

Well, I must admit that I cannot imagine what grounds you or I might have to sue the ACLU. If you can figure something out, raise the necessary funds, and find an attorney willing to take them on, then be my guest.

Personally, I think this is a good thing. The government has no business forcing children to recite such a patently nationalistic oath anyway,

There is no forcing of anyone, children or adult.

Jehovah's Witness children refused to pledge allegiance to the flag during WWII, and they won their case in the US Supreme Court.

Children are encouraged by the teacher to say the pledge, not forced.

Actually, I agree with him! Well, let's get the good freepers out, but then the quake could happen and CA could crack off and fall into the ocean, taking all the liberals with them.. Boxer, Pelosi & Feinstein should definitely be home at the time also.

seventeenth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty seven

Given the prevalence of titles of royalty during that time frame, it isn't even a given that the word "Lord" expressly denotes deity. It could just as well refer to British title of royalty. The House of Lords stands today.

"Wasn't the 'In God We Trust' put on currency at the same time as Under God was put in the Pledge?"

Nope the phase "In God We Trust" is present on US coinage
from 1800's such as 1864 two cent piece .

Just get the freepers out? Huh? Then it's OK with you if California drops into the ocean? Sorry, but you are way off base with this. California is home to lots and lots of conservatives and other Republicans. Go look at the Presidential vote in 2004.

Free Republic is based in California.

It's time to cut this nonsense out. California is part of this country. Wishing destruction on it is just not right.
