In the nearly two weeks since Hurricane Katrina, the government of New Orleans has devolved from its traditional status as an elective kleptocracy into something far more dangerous: an anarcho-tyranny that refuses to protect the public from criminals while preventing people from protecting themselves. At the orders of New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin, the New Orleans Police, the National Guard, the Oklahoma National Guard, and U.S. Marshals have begun breaking into homes at gunpoint, confiscating their lawfully-owned firearms, and evicting the residents. "No one is allowed to be armed. We're going to take all the guns," says P. Edwin Compass III, the superintendent of police.
Wow, this has worked every place it has been tried. Who is behind this sillyness?
"Stupid" doesn't begin to describe this move.
Let's see what outcome this has at the polls
Stalin. Saddam. Hitler. Democrats. Brothers of a feather.
Nagin will be named keynote speaker at the next DNC convention.
Is this being reported by any other news outlets? I don't recognize this site.
Let's hope the sheeple don't forget the names once they find out. But a single word suffices to cover all the guilty: Liberals.
Says right there in the article Nagin ordered it. He's probably getting kudos from the libs for this bit of unconstitutional thievery.
there apparently aren't enough people telling them "cold dead hands" and giving these JBTs their guns, bullets first.
And his opening line will be that Republicans hate black people
oh, and has anyone speculated about the lawsuits and possible outcome if said lawsuits hit SCOTUS as it currently sits? could be detrimental to rkba
That order has been recinded. What you won't hear reported is how other officials behind the scenes made it clear "don't go there". All confiscated arms are to be returned; many have been, without explaination given.
By what authority does this jackass think he can take away a constitutional right? I think a court order barring this action is in order if there is some poor soul down there that can bring the action in court.
There is no insurrection.
There is no martial law.
There is no police protection.
Because of their dopey actions, or inactions, it won't matter. Neither Nagin or Blanco have a chance of being re-elected.
You steal something and give it back doesn't undo the act of theft.
Same goes for conspiracy to deprive a citizen of their constitutional rights.
Federal pen for all involved.
Especially those who ordered it.
I read somewhere on FR that Governor Blanco ordered it rescinded.
I can find Compass making stupid statements, but actual links, so far, no.
Praise the Lawd
