BATON ROUGE, La. -- Gun sales across the South boomed after the first reports surfaced of armed looters roaming the streets of New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. And images of shots being fired at relief workers only elevated fears in some communities.
Now, as hundreds of thousands of people displaced from their homes are being resettled, gun store owners say they're being flooded by a demand for guns--particularly in Southern states and others where many of the hurricane victims are being relocated.
Mostly, they say, the demand is being fueled by "good people" wanting to protect their families and property. That includes some who might not otherwise purchase such weapons, they add.

My daughter soon to be 26 and my son just turned 24 were raised on firearms. Most of what they own were gifts from me.

The 50 cal is nice too.
didn't get into them until i was 21.. out of college and out of my parent's house. parent's would let me have them there. fortunately, my ex-father in law was very nice and helped get me started.
OH! Hey! There's a rifle in that photo! I almost didn't catch it. :-)....heh...heh... Whoo boy! :-)
I have two ex father in laws. Both were much nicer than their daighters. I finally got it right this time.
I just barely caught that.
Spoke to a woman whose sister lives in Batton Rouge.
This is heresay on heresay. The sister is saying that the population of the city is doubled. There are an increase in robberies and the traffic is unbelievable. Stores are not stocked for the increase in population so there are shortages of everything.
The sister is definilty concerned about the crime.
I would imagine the looters have been folded into the other groups and are now resettled.
Is the current Pope Catholic? Same answer. :)
20 round drum-fed 12ga shotgun = riot suppression apparatus extraordinaire. :)
How about:
to the MSM TEN bullets is a loaded dangerous weapon.
BUT
to the MSM TEN rounds is a stockpile of ammunition.
:-)...yeah.. I hear ya man. :-)
>>Got a nice lecture that what was happening on the news shouldn't make me buy a gun if I don't have one already.
That is weird. If one of my friends mentioned that they were thinking of getting a gun after the New Orleans thing (I'm in NorCal), I wouldn't lecture them except to say "Take a safety class where they show you the proper handling of a gun" and maybe give them some suggestions on types to get.
It's only sensible to see what is happening, extrapolate that it could happen here, and take precautions to protect yourself and your family.
We are clones, there are millions more of us with same DNA out there. :) As the Hank Williams JR, song goes, a country boy can survive.
I'm pretty sure he's still Catholic. :-) What's the weight on a loaded 12ga drum mag? Any idea?
:-)
No idea, sorry.
do they make those again?
maker please?!
(picture?)
New teeee veeeee show nexr week called survivorman ? on the SCI channel Direct TV (Channel #284)....looks promising for those that "survive" the outdoors or what nature and man throws at em....
I agree, mostly. But we have smart looters here in NC. They prey on the folks who've recently moved here from New York.
