The Red Cross has confirmed to Fox News Channel's Major Garrett that they had requested permission to take food and medical supplies to the Louisiana Superdome in the hours immediately after Hurricane Katrina's landfall. That request was denied by none other than Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco.
Garrett appeared on Hugh Hewitt's syndicated radio program this evening to discuss the shocking revelation.
MG: Well, the Red Cross, Hugh, had pre-positioned a literal vanguard of trucks with water, food, blankets and hygiene items. They're not really big into medical response items, but those are the three biggies that we saw people at the New Orleans Superdom, and the convention center, needing most accutely. And all of us in America, I think, reasonably asked ourselves, geez. You know, I watch hurricanes all the time. And I see correspondents standing among rubble and refugees and evacuaees. But I always either see that Red Cross or Salvation Army truck nearby. Why don't I see that? The Louisiana Department of Homeland Security is directly under the command and direction of Governor Kathleen Blanco. The same Kathleen Blanco who has whined and blamed the federal government from her perch in Baton Rouge throughout this entire crisis. The same Kathleen Blanco who has stared at cameras with deer-in-headlight-glazed eyes since Hurricane Katrina made landfall. The same Kathleen Blanco who, after being asked about federal help prior to landfall said, "No." The same Kathleen Blanco who rescinded Mayor Ray Nagin's order to completely evacuate the city due to dangerous conditions just today.HH: And the answer is?
MG: The answer is the Louisiana Department of Homeland Security, that is the state agency responsible for that state's homeland security, told the Red Cross explicitly, you cannot come.
HH: Now Major Garrett, on what day did they block the delivery? Do you know specifically?
MG: I am told by the Red Cross, immediately after the storm passed.
Was Kathleen Blanco's goal the death of as many of those in the Superdome as possible?
Yes, I would! The set of "Threads you've been beating up on Jackson, West, et al." does not seem to intersect at all with the set of "Threads I've been beating up on Jackson, West, et al.". Perhaps you could send me a link to a few of those threads? I'd appreciate it very much.
Point the first: I'm not going to justify my presence or words by way of supplying links - I went through that arguement earlier this week. I don't have to justify myself to anyone on the left or anyone on the right.
Point the second: I'm not on each and every thread - it's virtually impossible to.
Thirdly and finally, if you don't find that sufficient, I'm sorry.

Oprah and Nagin - look at both videos
Shocking but not surprising, unfortunately.

Her middle name is Babineaux, she ran as a Democrat, her opponent was dark-skinned (Jindal).
If I had evidence do you honestly think I would be posting it here.
But let me explain a fact to you anyway, anyone that gets totaled out by their flood insurance loses their land because the insurance takes it in exchange for the money paid out.
Follow the money, who is funding the flood insurance in New Orleans and who will receive all these properties after they've been bought out?
In a year or so we will be able to look back and say these people made out like bandits.
Compared to the wacko "Bush's fault" crowd it's pretty mild.
Seems more like an MSM cover-up to me. I am really disappointed in their bias and inaccuracy in this whole incident. I really calls into question their objectivity in getting information to the public.
That may not be news to people here, but I was holding out hope for at least some balance in coverage. Silly me.
Unfortunate, since I thought there was a strong enough news peg here.

As much as I believe she's completely incompetent...I do not believe that ANYONE in this tragedy wanted to commit genocide or even contemplated responsibility for even one individuals death.
Thinking doesn't appear to be her strong suit.
I remember before the storm hit, thinking "whoa.....those poor people are all going to die."
What a stupid plan. And then, by the Grace of God, they survived.......Blanco wouldn't allow the Red Cross in????
Mind boggling.
