Did Blanco attempt genocide at Superdome?
Ramblings' Journal ^ | 9.7.05 | Michael King

Posted on 09/07/2005 8:08:10 PM PDT by mhking

The Red Cross has confirmed to Fox News Channel's Major Garrett that they had requested permission to take food and medical supplies to the Louisiana Superdome in the hours immediately after Hurricane Katrina's landfall. That request was denied by none other than Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco.

Garrett appeared on Hugh Hewitt's syndicated radio program this evening to discuss the shocking revelation.

MG: Well, the Red Cross, Hugh, had pre-positioned a literal vanguard of trucks with water, food, blankets and hygiene items. They're not really big into medical response items, but those are the three biggies that we saw people at the New Orleans Superdom, and the convention center, needing most accutely. And all of us in America, I think, reasonably asked ourselves, geez. You know, I watch hurricanes all the time. And I see correspondents standing among rubble and refugees and evacuaees. But I always either see that Red Cross or Salvation Army truck nearby. Why don't I see that?

HH: And the answer is?

MG: The answer is the Louisiana Department of Homeland Security, that is the state agency responsible for that state's homeland security, told the Red Cross explicitly, you cannot come.

HH: Now Major Garrett, on what day did they block the delivery? Do you know specifically?

MG: I am told by the Red Cross, immediately after the storm passed.

The Louisiana Department of Homeland Security is directly under the command and direction of Governor Kathleen Blanco. The same Kathleen Blanco who has whined and blamed the federal government from her perch in Baton Rouge throughout this entire crisis. The same Kathleen Blanco who has stared at cameras with deer-in-headlight-glazed eyes since Hurricane Katrina made landfall. The same Kathleen Blanco who, after being asked about federal help prior to landfall said, "No." The same Kathleen Blanco who rescinded Mayor Ray Nagin's order to completely evacuate the city due to dangerous conditions just today.

Was Kathleen Blanco's goal the death of as many of those in the Superdome as possible?

Why would she do this?
That's what I want to know.

We all, with the luxury of hindsight, would see things more clearly and act more appropriately in many situations. The state of LA and the city of NO don't see eye to eye on many things, and obviously there was massive miscommunication on both sides during an impossible situation to get on top of. Lets not go from this to echoing the paranoid racist rantings of political opportunists trying to use these issues to attack George Bush, and mainstream America. Blanco is human and a public servant, in spite of her colossal mistakes during this disaster, they were not intentional acts designed to exterminate black people. Lets wait for the facts to fully surface and be put in the proper context before we indict anyone.

You've got that right.

Some of the naysayers who can't see past the race issue might want to look up Voluntary and Involuntary Manslaughter.

Anybody throwing out direct, personal accusations of attempted genocide had bloody well better have some evidence to support it. Without such evidence, it's a serious slander, a racist smear, evidence of paranoia. It's not a 'joke' to 'lighten up' about.

That this thread was even posted is a disgrace to this forum.

But it's OK if the liberals do it, right?

Was Rwanda genocide? I think so, adn Clinton should get ore blame for it than he receives.

I don't know that this would qualify as genocide, but the headline grabs your attention and there are some serious questions to be asked about the governor's behavior.

If she wasn't trying to put people in harm's way, what was she doing? Incompetence isn't the answer, based on the refusal to let the Red Cross deliver supplies. She KNEW those people needed help, and she refused to allow any relief.

What do YOU think is the answer?

"Was Kathleen Blanco's goal the death of as many of those in the Superdome as possible?"

Being dumb doesn't make her a cold-blooded killer. My guess is that she didn't know everything that was going on. She was over here when stuff was happening over there, in her name. She's no murderer, just an amateur.

The only place that I mentioned the word "genocide" was in the title to the thread. I do want to know if there was an intent that people die by any of the nitwits (Blanco or Nagin) who were supposed to have been in charge.

Am I being over the top with the question? Admittedly. But I won't apologize for it.

It's pretty damn funny that it seems to be relatively OK for leftists to use the same language -- and worse -- and get little more than a slap on the hand. Let me, or someone else here, turn the tables ever so slightly, and there's so much hand-wringing and gnashing of teeth from everyone under the sun.

Personally, I don't think race had anything to do with what happened there. I think that the actions by Nagin were negligent to the point of borderline criminal. I think that Blanco's actions are not only criminal, but potentially capital crimes.

I understand from your multiple posts that you feel my statements to be beyond the pale. I got it. I hear you. You don't need to keep beating me upside the head.

That being said, I'm not going to ask that the thread be removed. And I'm not going to apologize for it.

I want that mirror to show the libs exactly what they are saying. I want that reflection that Blanco casts to land squarely on them.

Excellent summary of the so called leaders of La and N O's:

"The net result, is that ill informed or negligent decisions were made, and people were needlessly subjected to monstrous and hellish "living" conditions for a lengthy period of time. And THAT, as President Bush might say, is "unacceptable." The actions of the officials of the State of Louisiana are similar to what Mugabe, or Castro, or Saddam Hussein might have done. In fact, this could have been a U.N. operation, because it was so negligent, incompetent, and unconscionably cruel."

I have the feeling as this unfolds, we will see the hidden hand of lawyers advising the mayor and governor not to do what was in the plans for legal bs and not to "lose power" to the federal government. Apparently the worthless governor has slapped a gag order on all La National Guard Members to keep them quiet.

I've spent the last few days beating up on liberals for throwing out this kind of smear, which is more than can be said for some folks on this thread.

Take you filthy insinuations elsewhere.

"If the locals didn't enact their own action plan to get those elderly out and instead left them to die, what's that called?"

Eldercide and elder abuse at the least.

She's gotta cover her butt until she finds someone to get her out of deep kim-chee.

Thanks Grampa. I would concur that a gag order on all officials and National Guard members will be forthcoming.

Also, remember back on Sunday the 28th how much confusion surrounded if and when they would even open the Superdome. I suspect the Mayor and Governor were already squabbling over how to respond.

The locals knew what would happen if they locked up 25,000 people in there. They live with those crazies everyday.

Actually, if you follow my theory, it didn't really matter to Blanco who was in the dome...just a lot of warm bodies that could be the poster children for Bush's "failings."Remember mhking, they also made no provicions for students at Tulane, for nursing home residents, or tourists.

I therefore come down on the non-genocide side of the coin; I still think she is criminally responsible, and I think her motives were sinister and not simply incompetence.

My wife and I heard it on the radio news as we were car pooling to do our mid week errands.

Someone posted that there was gag order yesterday.

Looks like my traffic is going to spike today -- my thread just got posted to Salon's Daou Report.

Guess I'd best get my asbestos underwear out. The moonbats are going try to flame me via e-mail but good.

We will see the rat senators like the HildebeaSt, Reid and other foaming mouth liberals try to have hearings just focusing on the federal response ie GW.

This is why GW said yesterday to review the responses and lack of them at all levels of government.

I guess I'm not really surprised. The party that wants to blame everyone else, sue everyone else, and investigate everyone else never hesitates to invoke a gag order to protect their own sorry butts.

I'm not insinuating anything, and why are you so defensive?

The liberals are pounding the point home that Bush is behind a grand plot to kill off all of New Orleans' poor, black and infirm population, but honestly wouldn't it be the democrats that profit by such a massive loss of life?

No need to answer that, we both know what the answer is.
