I've always thought that the story of that flight was the most inspiring of all I heard from that day. Those men and women exhibited the best traits of America: bravery, faith, gumption, intelligence and a refusal to give up or give in.

There is a lot of footage about Richard and of his family. He did not make a phone call but he sure as heck seemed like one of the folks who would've taken action.

I heard he would protect people as quickly as he protected the environment. I am glad he was on the flight.

Thanks for letting me know this - I'm thrilled the place was renamed after a hero who saved lives.

I too will never forget 9/11/01, because of the horror of that day and also because I flew home from a vacation in Las Vegas on 9/10/01.

It is still a powerful memory of how ignorant I really was on the 10th about the dangers in the world.
