Just heard on FOX that Blanco refused to allow supplies to be brought to the stadium, "Because they wanted all those people to leave, and they didn't want to create a magnet to bring others there, by bringing in food and water!"""
"Now she has stopped the evacuation of the remaining. SHE wants the water tested so SHE can make the decision..."
This woman would seemingly rather have people die than give up one bit of her power. I wish President Bush would hold a press conference, explain to the country what's going on, and find SOME federal power to de-throne her (if there is any).
Her actions (or, more correctly, her INACTIONS) have killed people, and she doesn't seem to have learned from her mistakes.
The Pitt. Post Gazette has picked this up:

Once the storm hit, once the flood hit -- getting a rescue in was difficult and chaotic. And rescue did not reach that home -- which had TWICE refused evacuation -- in time to save them.
The people she did not allow in also had baby formula on their trucks. Hubby told me today 17 infants died. Today her office will not answer phones, they say cause of coming litigation against them. How does this woman sleep at night?
Hubris, that is Blanco's problem. Hubris.
Aaron Broussard is a liar.
UPDATE: Sharon Weber of Wal-Mart called back. She said that last week, FEMA diverted those water trucks to "another location, which [FEMA] felt was in greater need than where they were headed." Weber emphasized that Wal-Mart would not override any FEMA decisions made in emergency situations. So Broussard, who claimed that Wal-Mart's aid was ourtight rejected, was wrong. Based on Wal-Mart's information, their trucks were taken where FEMA thought they were needed most. It would appear that the same story occurred with the Coast Guard fuel issue. Broussard said that FEMA wouldn't release the fuel to Jefferson Parish - but surely that fuel went somewhere else it was needed. Thanks to Wal-Mart's Sharon Weber for tracking down this information

It is indeed sad that blacks keep electing politicians (or all races) who continue to do them such a pitiful disservice. If blacks came to the conservative side, their lot would begin to improve almost immediately. Sad, really sad.
I don't know about genocide. Let's face it, when it comes to some people, everyone is expendable when you gotta cya : (
Personally, I'd like to wring Blanco and Landreu's necks. Nagin too...(note to FBI-I'm not going to do it, can't do it, don't have the gas money to get there to do it.)
It's vital that plans to handle contigencies of all sorts be practised multiple times a year. And not in some hotel banquest hall as a pretty mental and paper exercise. Sometimes. But people think in context of work place surroundings. The excercies have to have a wide area of people and some actual physical resources engaged in it, while they are "on the job".
"They can die for all I care. "
Nah, I don't think people should die for the stupidity of their elected officials. I'm all in favor of helping people in dire need. They also have a dire need to get their Governor recalled.
....truth to tell, I myself had heard that, that was the "reason" no food or water/supplies had been brought in. Honest, swear on my puppy dog's life.... I heard it during those first three days....

Have no idea if Wikipedia is reliable.
It should be interesting to see if the convoluted truth actually comes out.
Buying them off and shipping them off!
I know he's a lying POS, he was shown on TV in Australia whining and crying, I'm not a violent person but bring him to me and I'll cheerfully put his lights out! ( There's definitely something in the water in NO and it's been there for a long time imo.)
"WOW. It makes a total liar out of Parsih President Broussard"
I guess you can't expect more. I read on another thread where Broussard is under indictment.
In any case the media portrays the bleakest and most dire of stories and seeks material to bash Bush, to play into the racial-class war theme they are trying to stick to him. (And are unable to!)
In most places the situation is far more hopeful and helpful -- people helping each other, working to rescue and recover. Humanity at its best under the dread circumstances.
Your Auusie mates got thrown in the worst of it, for sure.
I keep hearing this about indictments - but it seems impossibly early for anything like that.
The state Homeland Security Department had requested--and continues to request--that the American Red Cross not come back into New Orleans following the hurricane. Our presence would keep people from evacuating and encourage others to come into the city.
