Military says "No." to Nagin (Won't take part in Mayor's debacle)
CNN | 9/7/05 | CNN Headline News

Posted on 09/07/2005 5:41:44 AM PDT by RGSpincich

CNN Headline news reporter just stated that the military will not force folks from their homes. "Refusing to force Americans from their homes", said the noticeably British reporter. Further, they will not let residents deteriorate in their own homes. The military will continue to get water and food to those remaining in New Orleans, effectively undermining Nagin's mandatory evacuation order.

Talking heads moved on to the dangers of disease about one minute after the last rescue from the convention center. Not even one word of "thanks National Guard. Job well done"

I recognized the exact same mindset of the entire group as that which refuses to air good news from Iraq, Afghanistan, or anywhere. They had a "Need" to look for the next horror story, that was so automatic, it appeared to be a reflex.

Again, something just doesn't feel right about the decisions that are being made. Like many here, I too could survive several months without assistance. I guess I'll just have to watch as events unfold, but there is a heartbreaking feeling starting to get worse.

My feelings exactly.

"When Landrieu was running for Senate against Terrell, didn't Clinton call for a 'get out the vote' initiative? Who was the NO Mayor then? Was it Nagin?"

Nagin was recently elected mayor probably the same time frame as Landrieu election.

That mayor position and now appears the governor position are not necessarily the power. Appears there is a legal counsel that interprets what these people can and cannot do.

As I have said before Mother Nature ripped off the walls of liberalism, (a system of governance) for the whole world to see. What is going on right now is jockeying for power to control the windfall they know will be flowing out of our pocket to whom ever can gain control. More money than a mind can comprehend is at stake. Enough money to run a whole liberal election cycle probably two.

Yes, Clinton got involved with the Landrieu election. Threatening folks to get out the vote, or else.

There are many people on tv on the news who have been saying so. People are getting caught up in a knee jerk reaction.

The main reason for forcing the residents out is that (a) there is no potable (clean) water -- and there won't be for at LEAST six months. There are no sources of food (grocery stores, etc.), and won't be for 4-6 months. The water in the streets has basically turned New Orleans into one, giant toxic chemical spill. The water that spilled into New Orleans includes: chemicals that spilled from chemical plants, dead bodies, sewage, spilled oil/patrolium from gas stations and oil processing plants within the city, etc. God only KNOWS what else is in the water. This, coupled with the fact that they say it will take they 2-3 weeks to pump all the water out, and the people who stay are ASKING for trouble.

Even if someone has enough food/water on their own to stay for a week, a month, or even two months, why should the authorities be responsible for them if they run out eventually? Why should the government be responsible for someone so STUPID and STUBBORN? Wait, don't answer that. I know the entire welfare/entitlement state can fall under that category!

New Orleans is a "dead city" and will remain a dead city for 5-6 months MINIMUM. If someone wants to take responsibility for themselves and try and survive ON THEIR OWN in the city, then I guess that is their right since we DO live in America. These stupid, stubborn people, however, should not depend on the government when they finally run out of food/water, or get some infection/disease as a result of their stupidity.

Aaron Brown was having a breakdown (fake) over the very thought of that dirty water being pumped out of the city.

I wonder what he would do with it. Leave it in the streets?

Thanks, those words do kindle a slight memory of that election.

What future political aspirations Mary Mary quite Contrary might of had outside LA appeared to have been snipped and clipped by Hillry, Inc. That call for a 9/11 style commission sure removed Mary from the governor's elbow.

Could somebody update me on this story- I can't make heads or tails out of what is going on....but then again, maybe nobody else can either

For what it's worth, ABC radio news just reported that federal "police" will be forcing people from their homes.

Color me more confused than ever. It seems that neither the mayor, the governor or the lamestream media are on the same page.

OK now we have either forced evacuation or forced labor next will be forced evacuation and forced labor. Then concentration camps then????? ANY MORE GREAT IDEAS???

I didn't say forced labor. The people who want to stay and work could. They are going to have to bring in outside labor anyway. What would be wrong with people being asked to help out? They might appreciate something constructive to do.

Stocking up and crossing oceans was the easy part. Living on a boat in a city was more complicated. ;^)

" no gas or electricity for 8 weeks. Possibly no consistent means to supply them with food and water over this period or supply them with normal support like fire or police services."

Parts have already been restored with electricity. Saw it on Nightline last night.

How does the forcing of people off viable property relate with the recent US Supreme ruling on takings? Any?
