CNN Headline news reporter just stated that the military will not force folks from their homes. "Refusing to force Americans from their homes", said the noticeably British reporter. Further, they will not let residents deteriorate in their own homes. The military will continue to get water and food to those remaining in New Orleans, effectively undermining Nagin's mandatory evacuation order.
They police and military should carry waivers to them all explaining that they are basically on their own. Food and water will be available, but they will have to come and get it. Also, don't expect an airlift because of illnesses resulting from lack of proper sanitation.
The media does not want anyone to see or hear about the progress.
Can't predict economic disaster if the truth is told.
I go and read the Battle of New Orleans, 1815 and thought I had learned something :P
I'll cede you that point and how in the world would one know the difference. Lord, what a mess.
I may have mistated. Eastforker pointed out other points of access, Houston and OK
"This thread got me to thinking so I took inventory before I posted and thats what I came up with. Forgot about the 2 tanks of propane for the forklift, the ditch-witch is almost full, the jetski is full and I have about 150 gallons of water in the pressure washer tank. So I guess it is just the laundry.
Jeeze, you've got me beat. I really, really wanna ditch-witch, and my pressure-washer uses a garden-hose water supply. I do have 3 55-gal food-grade drums for water, plus one 30-gal. The swimming pool is down, right now, awaiting a new liner. about 5k gallons when full. Most of my spare fuel is in 5-gal plastic cans. I need to get some more, too. gas prices are falling here, a little. (back under $3/gal for regular, as of yesterday.) I can do without the jetski, though.
Sounds a lot like her heinous complaining about the polluted air in NYC following the WTC attacks.
Any suggestions on just what to do with the air and water?
Idiocy multiplies from the elites.
Excellent point!
I don't dispute that. I'm just suggesting that if the military doesn't have the jurisdiction to evict people from their homes, they sure as hell have no business airlifting Happy Meals to stubborn people who insist on staying in their homes in a city that no longer exists.
Makes sense to me. I'm sure its not going to tax the military too much to carry in a little food and water to them. From what I've heard, the situation in the majority of NO has been hyped anyway.
holding tank or composting toilet? ;-)
Wouldn't home-owners in the "dry" areas have access to roads? If gas for cars is low or nonexistent, bikes could be used as transpo to buy food in the nearest operating town. Of course, the bikers would have to be armed and travel in packs--as would those who remained at home. And if some of the dry homes don't already have cisterns for fresh water, owners could surely rig something. It won't be comfortable, but it's possible--and may be better than returning to a looted or vandalized house and more honorable than deciding to claim (from the govt. or insurance companies) preventable damages later.
Yep, We know now where to find some of those unaccounted for NOPD.
Exactly. I think this is a wake up call. We need to get out of the cities and into a place where we can better take care of ourselves. You are right about the medication. And I honestly wonder if its really needed so much. My husband is in the same boat. The Dr. diagnosed him with some light defiecency syndrome, gave him pills for it. He tried to get off them and he had a terrible time. He had to resume taking them again. I think this is going to wake us up to not blindly trusting a lot of people anymore. Drs who say we need all these pills for one thing.
Once the ground is dry, water is gone, there will be NO WAY to keep NO from filling up with people. The mayor has to get use to it. NO will be populated with many people in a few days -- toxic or not.
I dont know why the governor hasnt fired him.
I have 5 55 gallon plastic garbage cans I guess I could use them. Need to get lids though. Thanks I hadn't even thought of that. I guess in a pinch I could use plastic garbage bags and piled them up.

Re the vision of sludge being pumped into the lake:
This recovery will demonstrate the overhyping of "environmental disaster" that the watermelon lobby (Green on the outside...) has been using as a sword over the heads of Americans.
Some reporterettes are worried about this contaminated flood water getting into the Mississippi!!!
Mother Earth really is self-cleaning, or she would not still be twirling around the Sun.
No responsibility. If you choose to stay and get shot or sick, its your baby but don't force them to leave their homes. I am talking about homes that aren't damaged.
