President Bush had a very busy day today, meeting with Secretary of Education, Margaret Spellings and First Lady Laura Bush, to discuss the educational needs of children displaced by Hurricane Katrina and how states might be able to absorb the cost of the large numbers of new students. He also met with the Cabinet to discuss the recovery efforts following the hurricane, and reuniting family members with each other, healthcare provision and finances.
At noon, the President met with representatives from national voluntary organizations to discuss how best to help the Americans who are evacuees from the hurricane. He pledged a full investigation into the response to the hurricane.
The President and First Lady also paid their respects to the late Chief Justice of the United States, William Rehnquist, spending a few moments bowing their heads at his casket.
Continue to pray for the President and the people in the ravaged Gulf Coast region, and enjoy this island of refuge from the blind attacks against our GOOD President on the Daily Dose!
I am extremely touched by the out pouring from the global community. Some of those in the Tsunami region have pledged money for those hit by Katrina, I find that very touching and even if they were offering lawn chairs, I salute them for being there for us when we need help. Kuwait pledged 500 million dollars, Kutar pledged 100 Million, and some very poor nations have offered support that many would consider small, I DON'T. The fact that Schrilanka offering money after what they went through after the Tsunami is a very touching act of appreciation and should be taken as a very generous donation considering what they have been through
hi mystery! I do the same.....I watch only Fox and when I need a break or get mad at them for having Weasle Clark on...I go to HGTV. I love Design on a Dime (Lee Snyders trio) and Designers Challenge.
***Dogs are also good at cleaning up the crumbs from the kitchen floor should one (theoretically, anyway) hate sweeping the floor and just wipe off the counters letting the crumbs fly all over . . .***
And anything else they can reach. One day I was sitting on the patio with my Irish Setter eating a rare, rare treat of a very expensive and utterly delicious brownie, the kind you only buy one of after you take out a second mortgage to pay for it. A picnic wasp arrived and was buzzing around the brownie. I quickly put my hand with the brownie in it under my chair. The wasp left. I pulled my hand back up and raised it to my mouth. I had never felt a thing. Do I really have to tell you that my dog was wiping crumbs off her mouth?
...And as all of those who live in the South know, the mold, some of it toxic, has already begun to grow.
I can't watch or listen when they talk about stranded dogs....or not being able to take dogs when they rescue people. Makes me so sad. This may sound ignorant but, I don't think I could leave my dog.....but, guess you never know unless you're in that position. Sad.
I saw that- Kuwait is in my mind the new Great Britain- our new best friends. The people of Kuwait truly love America for what we have done for them.
Lost into the 'general fund,' never to be seen by the desperate and deserving.
agree, DrDeb. I've been emailing all week...can't take the injustice.
Did you see Fox & Friends this morning. "Gov" Blanco was on and Steve, Brian and E.D. asked the hard questions...and she had no good answers. But,I was happy they put it to her.
Let the word go out my FRiends: we need Karen Hughes and Ari Fleischer out front and center, providing the TRUTH, NO-NONSENSE common sense and sanity ... NOW!
my neighbor's daughter is driving from Fla to Mississippi to deliver donations to the Humane Soc for pets....and i think she will take some dogs home with her.
Rep Party tried to get him to run for Senate against Dem Bill Nelson. Glad he said no.
hi ohio. For past few days, I've been emailing FACTS I learn from FR to each of the Fox shows....Fox&Friends, Gibson, Hume, O'Reilly. Sometimes, feel like it makes no difference...but, maybe not....so I keep typing. They probably have my name on their 'ignore' list. LOL.
'drawn to the fight...cause this man is worth fighting for'
i've been the same way, ohio. my husband thinks i'm a kool aid drinker and my friends are now looking at me wide eyed...cause I start ranting about how the media does not mention Gov Blanco's failure to do her job. Then I email any show or paper that blames Bush.
i don't care if they think i'm nuts...we have to stand up for this good man.
Hannity did the same to Rep. Sen.Vitter. Vitter (who sounds like Gore)was whining about the levees....so Hannity says to him, you've been in the Senate for a while, why didn't you do something about the levees. No good answer.
...Nagin gettin p.o.'d
Nagin is one sly dude....he immediately went on offense to deflect any blame on himself.
Wow, thank you! That is just about the sweetest thing! You regs are awesome: truly lightened up an otherwise trying day. :)
(and nope, had no idea there was an "award" for the first poster of the thread: I thought you were kidding me about a cyber toaster ;) ) ...
Wow! What a powerful video - and the music is just magnificent.
