Mary Landrieu: I'll Punch Bush, 'Literally'

Sen. Mary Landrieu threatened the president of the United States with physical violence on Sunday, saying that if he or any other government official criticizes New Orleans police for failing to keep civil order in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina - "I might likely have to punch him - literally."

"If one person criticizes [our sheriffs], or says one more thing, including the president of the United States, he will hear from me - one more word about it after this show airs and I - I might likely have to punch him - literally," Landrieu railed on "ABC's "This Week."

It is illegal to threaten the president with physical violence.

The Louisiana Democrat blasted Bush for neglecting the New Orleans levees, and demanded that he stop using the disaster for "photo-ops."

"The president came here yesterday for a photo-op," Landrieu charged, while surveying the disaster scene via helicopter with "This Week" host George Stephanopoulos in tow. "He got his photo-op but we are never going to get this fixed if he does not send us help now."

Landrieu also blamed Bush for cutting funding for levee improvement, before bursting into tears on camera.

In recent days, Louisiana officials have been criticized for bungling evacuation and rescue efforts. One of those officials, Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu, is Sen. Landrieu's brother.

Agree entirely. Bush's whole problem is that he honestly believes that sweet reason will prevail with these people. It never does; or if it does, it does so way too late to do any good.

He's got to remember that his permitting these nutcases to get away with their ravings is a great disservice to the people of LA. It's not just about him.

What they are REALLY saying if they could hear themselves is this: We KNEW in advance of this disaster that our citizens were unprotected. Instead of planning an evacuation plan, training our police, securing boats and buses and routes, we did what we always do: sit around and wait for a hand out and then blame whoever doesn't get there fast enough with the help.

Yes. But with Landrieu and Blanko it's really isolated. It's hard for me to believe that they are acting within the grand plan the MSM and leftist have. These two are suffering from humongous guilt because they are beginning to realize where the blame will ultimately fall. As for Mary, her political career is destroyed. New Orleans is gone, the buses are underwater and she has no base to return her to the senate. She's simply lashing out at Bush to attempt to save her scrawny arse in Lousiana. But, it will not work. Blanco is cracking and will go under when the numbers come out. The state will demand her head on a stick.
