May Justice Rehnquist rest in peace! He has surly earned that, as well as his rightful place in Heaven.

All I can say is, thank God W is President. Amen. Thank you Jesus for this man. Please give him strength, wisdom, rest and peace. Please, Lord, provide him the support he needs among Republicans. Please instill them with strength and conscience to do what is right.

I was laughing at Greta's demeanor and her facial expressions -- she is not a happy camper.
Glad to hear that everything is back up and running okay. I was going to call it an early night too but then this came across the wire along with an IM I received.

The death of Rehnquist may make the fight over Roberts even harder in the next weeks. The Dems are going to be frantic over the thought of Bush getting all these Supremes put in!

No, I still don't understand what you're saying. What good can come out of this? Rehnquist was a conservative. And he died.
To: wallcrawlr
just making sure, myself. : )
To: potlatch
Thank God he has a strong spiritual life to sustain him through all of this turmoil.

Bush will pick a constitutionalist and ANYONE who doesn't know the character of this man by now and what he would do, never will.

I'm not positive on this but I think Bush and the Congressional Republicans want to keep the status quo. Putting Gonzales and Roberts on the court would be about the same as Rehnquist and O'Connor. Bush knows that if Roe V. Wade is overturned, the Republicans will lose the Northeast and all the pro-choice country club Republicans. I don't think the pro-life Democrats would go anywhere because the ones who were very deeply pro-life one issue voters became Republicans.
