Halliburton hired for storm cleanup
The Houston Chronicle ^ | Sept. 1, 2005 | The Houston Chronicle

The Navy has hired Houston-based Halliburton Co. to restore electric power, repair roofs and remove debris at three naval facilities in Mississippi damaged by Hurricane Katrina.

Halliburton subsidiary KBR will also perform damage assessments at other naval installations in New Orleans as soon as it is safe to do so.

KBR was assigned the work under a "construction capabilities" contract awarded in 2004 after a competitive bidding process. The company is not involved in the Army Corps of Engineers' effort to repair New Orleans' levees.

Too bad if they were involved in repairing the levees, they just mignt have a chance against the next "Katrina"

Given this statement: KBR was assigned the work under a "construction capabilities" contract awarded in 2004 after a competitive bidding process. why would you say it was not a good move? This is not the same situation as in Iraq where there was no time for a bidding process. I would not deselect a company simply on the basis that the leftists would object. In fact, that is icing on the cake!

I think the New Orleans "Bowl" should be filled in and made higher than the level of Lake Pontchartrain. Assuming New Orleans is to be rebuilt on its current location.

Where's the Navy at? Water. Who's behind the Navy? Bush. Now get this, where did the hurricane come from? The water! That's no coincidence you know. Can't you see it? Bush, water, Halliburton. That's all the proof you need.

There we have it - solid evidence that Bush caused the hurricane just to benefit his buddy Dick Chenney and his friends at Halliburton.....

Ugh.... I can see it now.

Surely NO would be better off had a "disadvantaged" firm been hired, one with lots of incompetent "minorities" on staff as is the case with the current local and state administrations.

I would love to throw your very point in the face of a libbie friend who is always railing about evil Halliburton, no bid contracts, and how Dick Cheney and all his evil cronies are getting RICH!

I won't though, because she is a friend. But I'm tempted!
