President Bush continues to assess the catastrophic damage by air and on the ground in Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Bush spent the day meeting with search and rescue personnel, relief commanders, and displaced residents in Mobile, Biloxi, and the New Orleans area. U.S. Congress passed a $10.5 billion relief package for the hurricane ravaged areas. First Lady Laura Bush issued a press statement from an evacuation shelter in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Patient and staff evacuations continue from numerous New Orleans Hospitals. Thousands of patients are being airlifted to a field hospital at Louis Armstrong New Orleans Airport for triage, staging, and transport to hospitals throughout the United States.

The U.S. Coast Guard and civilian volunteers continue to evacuate thousands of survivors from their flooded homes in New Orleans. The Army Corps of Engineers continues work to repair the damaged levees.

The nation's airlines today began an operation intended to fly up to 25,000 refugees out of New Orleans. The airlines are volunteering their aircraft and crews for the program. Long convoys loaded with relief supplies arrived throughout the day into New Orleans, while convoys of buses are moving survivors out of the city.

Several large fires are burning in the city and greater New Orleans area. Reports indicate snipers are holding down firefighters. Reports of shots fired with LEO down in the St. Bernard Parish area. Rescue operations are underway. A bus carrying NOLA evauees rolled over in Opelousa, LA.

I just happened to turn to NBC because someone said Aaron Neville was singing. I won't be turning back again.

That's a good idea. We should all do that...Call their number and demand a retraction. Oh ya like that will work. This is getting serious.

To them, it is about a "race" to the MSM finish line to power. It has never been, with liberals, about skin color (except when using quotas, etc.); but this current "race" is about "using the visual" of "tarring" whites, Bush Admin, and such when in fact, it is about the "race" in politics. Lib-Dems and their Pest Syndrome, "racing" for their cure.

About time people wake up to the fact that all these so called black leaders are nothing more than racists themselves.

They throw around Gods name as though only God shines into their outhouse.

Not in those exact words, but yes, that was the net effect and you captured it nicely. When Hannity asked him yesterday on radio show, Shep went on how people have no water and were always asking him for water and gee, he wants to help but - Shep concludes - "you can't, it's a survival thing." Playing drama queen for the radio audience.

Mark my words. There will be another civil war in this country in the next 5 years. The race pimps will see to it.

I just have this sick feeling that I can not shake.

No, and I'm missing something about him saying that we are going to be shooting his people and there is nobody to help because they are in Iraq.

I just called their number...the poor guy had no idea but I am so damn mad.

Nope, I was looking for some refuge from Whoraldo, and switched over to NBC, to hear a voice say "George Bush doesn't care about BLACK PEOPLE"

A *lot* of Vietnamese refugees from the S. Vietnam settled around the Gulf Coast and took up the fishing industry (among other things). They definitely contributed to the wealth of their new country - us.

Poor people, now they've had their homes destroyed twice.

They are really saying that White people are no good because they don't help black people. That is Racisim.

No. it's just a lie and Jesse knows it's a lie. He's beneath contempt. Some Reverend -- first he fathers a love child and then he bears false witness against citizens based on race. If he REALLY cared about black people in trouble, he'd be thanking all who help -- not using this tragedy to get in the news. But then, Jesse only really cares about Jesse.

AND WHAT HAS FOX DONE WITH BRIT HUME?

Yeah, I was wondering that too. I've been pretty bummed the last two days to come home from work and find Bill Hemmer and somebody else on. Maybe Brit's on vacation or something.

I still really can't believe this guy said that. I was pissed at Stone Phillips a bit earlier for interjecting a story about a fireman seeing Marine 1 and saying I just hope they do something for us soon, but now I'm glad that I'm donating to the Salvation Army.

What does that guy think his accomplishing. He'll end up causing the deaths of dozens more because of those comments.

Still stunned...
