Bush spent the day meeting with search and rescue personnel, relief commanders, and displaced residents in Mobile, Biloxi, and the New Orleans area. "Standard talking points robotted by those led into the clueless-ness by Lib-Dems.... tsk tsk.
Don't let your blood pressure rise, stupidity has a way of sinking, and of sinking itself. Every time it is tried."
I just wish the networks would stop airing those idiotic interviews. I know, it's typical of the MSM to show us the negative views only. But many people are losing respect for the victims.
Boy I thought that is what I heard. It looked like Mike M. was so taken aback that he stuttered thru the first couple of lines.
Bill is right about Rudy! This southern boy is not used to
Yiddish but I think some Yankee said Rudy is a real mensch!
Well I don't care about racists, so Usher can take a flying leap of the levy!
They'll have to come back before reelection and register as Dems before she will pay attention to them. Either that or tell her Larry King is calling . . . .
You have got to be kidding me
The problem is that St. Tammany Parish didn't have a plan, either. They're trying to go catch as catch can.
FEMA (and the rest of us) have had quite enough of that from Louisiana. FEMA will be back when they can spare the time to deal with that - probably sometime tomorrow.
I have only been reading the posts, but I just received this email from a friend. I do not know if it is valid or not, but if it is then please
This email is being sent from Barbara Reese on behalf of Joel Smith:
The email below is from a very credible lawyer and dear friend from New Orleans. This email contains information beyond what is being reported on the news. However, she has asked us to get the word out and underscores the need for each of us to do what we feel we can.
They just found my brother's best friend, his wife and two children. They got into a boat when "the wave" came and managed to survive since Monday on their roof after the roof could be found. They were picked up today by firefighters who had worked with Eileen when she was Captain- the firefighters were determined to find them.. They are now in even more danger.
They are held up in a building with the rescue firefighters in Chalmette- they are surrounded by gangs with automatic weapons. Patrick said there are sheriff deputies dead on the street and as evacuees try to cross the Chalmette ferry, they are being picked off and killed. Before the parish officials left the parish, they deputized the firefighters and gave them all guns. Patrick is frightened on the phone with Al and Al is trying to get a helicopter to fly in and rescue them. Patrick says it is a war zone.
The situation is worsening every minute. It is a catastrophe beyond any we have seen as a nation on our soil. They are not showing the atrocities that are occurring- people are being murdered every hour- and there are tens of thousands that are dead and that many still in attics and on rooftops.
Please do whatever you can to make people realize what is going on and that there is no more time to debate who should ask for what or what should be done. Every available resource, private and public needs to be marshalled to respond to this unprecedented disaster. There is little time and corporate America, the profession, religious leaders, politicians, and the public needs their outcry to be heard. If it can happen here it can happen anywhere. Please, do whatever you can. It is imperative- it is to save our humanity as we know it.
Very smart move. I wish others would heed your superb idea. Why? People on the outside being "overwrought" only makes things worse for those inside, currently, "Hell's Kitchen (NO)".
You know---all that race talk can spread throughout the whole dang country...fast!
They need to zip it
When they were interviewing people entering the Superdome Sunday, they talked with a young Australian tourist. **Everything, of course, looked simple enough at the time, as he smiled.
I've wondered about him, so I googled "australian tourists." There are plenty of articles, but I made the mistake of reading this one:
http://www.smh.com.au/news/world/storm-of-anger-as-us-fails-its-own/2005/09/02/1125302738957.html
B/P is still rising!**
Oh for GOD'S SAKES!!!! Who wrote that article, the Black Caucus?
I need a drink. Join me?!!
But they were stranded in a HOTEL!
I watched much of that day. If anything Shep is understating how many streamed across the bridge, far more than 5000.
I'm sure we'll see a story on the web someplace that Karl Rove steeered Katrina towards NO to get black folk at the behest of Dick Cheney.
2 questions
1. Is it possible that if the levy were stronger that the eventual failure could have made the flooding faster and harder when the inevitable happened?
2. Why cannot the city/state etc fund the levy's if they are so critical? No one stopped them to my knowledge.
I don't know, it could be the theater is on fire already. Maybe something good will happen for it.
Yankee stadium clears out every night in 1 hr despite NYC traffic - whyis it taking 5 days to get rid of this spctacle one half the size.
Where would you like them to take the people? Their homes are underwater...Astrodome is full other arrangements are being made..it takes time..
National Guard couldnt find these firefighters....
