President Bush continues to assess the catastrophic damage by air and on the ground in Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Bush spent the day meeting with search and rescue personnel, relief commanders, and displaced residents in Mobile, Biloxi, and the New Orleans area. U.S. Congress passed a $10.5 billion relief package for the hurricane ravaged areas. First Lady Laura Bush issued a press statement from an evacuation shelter in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Patient and staff evacuations continue from numerous New Orleans Hospitals. Thousands of patients are being airlifted to a field hospital at Louis Armstrong New Orleans Airport for triage, staging, and transport to hospitals throughout the United States.

The U.S. Coast Guard and civilian volunteers continue to evacuate thousands of survivors from their flooded homes in New Orleans. The Army Corps of Engineers continues work to repair the damaged levees.

The nation's airlines today began an operation intended to fly up to 25,000 refugees out of New Orleans. The airlines are volunteering their aircraft and crews for the program. Long convoys loaded with relief supplies arrived throughout the day into New Orleans, while convoys of buses are moving survivors out of the city.

Several large fires are burning in the city and greater New Orleans area. Reports indicate snipers are holding down firefighters. Reports of shots fired with LEO down in the St. Bernard Parish area. Rescue operations are underway. A bus carrying NOLA evauees rolled over in Opelousa, LA.

WGNO-TV New Orleans - New Orleans' ABC affiliate has returned to the air with WBRZ-TV and launched video streaming with continuous Katrina coverage.

WPMI-TV Mobile, AL - WPMI is webcasting from 5:30am - 10:30pm CDT. When off air, you can view pre-recorded reports on demand. This feed is often unreliable.

Guy from the environmental department of St. Bernard's Parish. Said that people are dying on their roofs. They are playing the race card, but the people in the suburbs, which are predominantly white, are dying in St. Bernard's Parrish, Saint Tammany Parish, etc.

Have you seen the new DnC/msm talking points from the Jimbo Witt (former FEMA PUKE)that Fema should not have been made part of Homeland Security? Horse Hockey, he knows better than to stick his nose in, but he is sticking his fat ugly toe under the tent with the Commie media's help, including Fox.

I'm not Howlin, but I'm beginning to think public hearings that lay out how the President's hands were tied until today when he basically said screw the law and send in the calvary is a GREAT idea... and Frist is looking better to me today down there working as a doctor he is in his element.

If there are hearings, the Dems and some RINO's will blast Bush. The others will blast the inept LA politicians. Which will get reported?

Here is some of what California is doing to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. In addition, the University Sytem is opening it's doors to students in the affected area for placement. There are hurricane relief drives in virtually every city in the State. While described as the left coast of the USA, Californians are well aware of disastrous events, like wild fires and earthquakes, and their consequences, and are responding like communities all over the USA to events on the Gulf Coast.

I hear we are getting $$ from other countries. Saudi Arabia is giving about $20 million and are pumping more oil. Frankly, we do not need their help. We have spent billions of $$ to protect the playboy princes of the Kingdom, and what do we get, nothing but exported terrorists killing innocent civilians in the USA and elsewhere.

we need to do some rough math - FNC said 95,000 have been evacuated & didn't we think 100,000 to 125,000 stayed behind? are we looking at a 5,000 -30,000 death toll?

I am watching Fox, forget what I said last nite.

Fox 6:18 cst

Just interviewing an LA official who was asking that the word get out for whites stuck on roof tops in other parrishes. They were dying on rooftops, he said. The LA official wanted the reporter to get the word out. LA official was quite emphatic.

The reporter spent all of 10 seconds on him, even literally taking the mike back from the man.

The reporter had to cut to some inane story of what was going on in Texas.

Then, cut to commerical.

Well, that's not quite fair. I am not a big Rush fan... I agree with him 100% some of the time and other times I think he is completely full of crap.
