I see Americans helping Americans. I hear stories and see photos that inspire me! I thank God I live in America.
Brett Coomer / Chronicle A paramedic carries a pair of girls away from an Army helicopter after they were airlifted from their flooded home in New Orleans on Tuesday.
I just listened to the local D.C. radio news and they played a woman screaming about no showers in the Astrodome. No this, no that, no nothing (I hear different). Then they quoted Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich making snide remarks about the progress of relief efforts.
Melissa Phillip / Chronicle Volunteer Heather Carson holds her son Joel Carson, 10 months, while she sorts through donated items. She and other volunteers at the Westlake Fire Department organized donated items for refugees from Hurricane Katrina. Three families of around 70 people stayed at the Westlake Volunteer Fire Department on Saums Road near Katy. Residents of the community converged on the fire station to bring supplies and offer support.
Americans are doing for each other but what is reported?
Negative, negative, negative.
Depress. Depress. Depress.
Bash Bush. Bash Bush. Bash Bush! Bash America.
Never, ever uplift and encourage or praise! That's the MSM I know and despise!
There are so many GOOD things going on by agencies and citizens. But NO, they won't report those things.
Keep up the good work FReepers. Report what Americans have been doing and will continue to do to help the survivors of Katrina.
Bump!
God Bless America and George W. Bush.
...Disguised as reporting. I agree. The media has an agenda and they're sticking to it. I still cannot figure out why so many people are shocked or surprised at an agenda driven media to this very day. I'm neither shocked or surprised. To them (the media), every opportunity is an opportunity to bash the President, as long as that President is a Republican. The Democrats, by default get a pass and a general whitewash and kidglove treatment by the media.
Give it time.
YEE-HAW!!!
you right....
Give it time.
LMAO!!
I'm really glad you posted this thread. We really are not hearing these great stories at all.
It goes beyond that.
With Clinton it was almost like a daily blessing on the country. He do something "good" that would be reported on the evening news.
But Shep's psychoneurotic behavior, even though normal and true, only serves to exacerbate the problem--and to inform us of his unprofessionalism. Does he really think we can't see the ghastly images his cameraman is broadcasting to us and interpret them for ourselves? Damn! He's on TV, not radio. If his normal and true feelings are flowing out of control, why not act to bring aid to the victims? How about begging, off camera, for Fox News to rent a nearby chopper and start flying in cases of bottled water? They could evacuate a couple of critically ill people each run, as well. Geez, use your influence in a positive manner. Lead, follow, or get out of the way, but don't use your position to fan the flames of hysteria.
I think he's doing that too.
You can't change his stripes but I think he is beginning to "get it."
The last thing anyone should be doing is panicking. The media is sure doing it's best to stoke the fear and panic. It's typical Liberalism; all emotion, no substance.
Good.
Americans our our lifeline and America is our home.
It's the family and we need to keep it.
Family is the bedrock of America.
Your parents did their job.
If everyone kept their heads about them, this whole mess could get cleaned up in an orderly fashion alot quicker.
***....Also outside Reliant Arena the, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was checking in animals.
One of the animals checked in was a five-year-old golden retriever mix named Precious. She and her owner swam for two days to escape the flooding. She was being loaded into a carrier that will be taken to the SPCA, which has taken in 300-400 animals onsite. ....***

Heard head of a group of Baptists...
Been providing 60,000 meals a day since Tuesday.
All around the county American citizen and business are rushing to do what they can, and more.
The MSM covers Katrina news about as good as they cover Iraq news. They can do better, much, much better.
