Dozens of women who had abortions or miscarried have contacted the coroner's office to see if their fetuses were among 300 discovered in the garage of a home where a suspended funeral director once lived.
The fetuses were found last week in cardboard boxes, plastic bags and Tupperware-like containers inside the padlocked garage of the home of Robert B. Winston Jr.'s ex-wife.
Winston and his former funeral home, Newman-Winston Memorial Chapel, had a contract with Magee-Womens Hospital from 1999 to 2002 to dispose of fetuses by having them cremated, authorities said.
The fetuses-which range in gestational age from 16 weeks to full term-were marked with labels identifying them variously as "medical waste", "fetuses" and "autopsy cases for Winston Funeral HOme."
Winston hasn't been charged. Abuses of a corpse is one charge being considered, but that could depend, among other factors, on the age of the fetuses in question, authorities said. Police did not say why the remains were stored int he garage.
The Allegheny County Coroner's office says it will take weeks to examine the fetuses and compare them to records kept at Magee-Womens Hospital, which had contracted with a funeral home to have them cremated.
Why would women who had an unimportant tissue mass removed be concerned about that tissue mass 5 or 6 years later?
Some of these babies were miscarried or stillborn. The women may have just accepted their being taken away as standard procedure, or given permission for them to be cremated. What a shock to find that your loved, wanted baby's body s stored in a garage somewhere.
We had a stillborn son who we had to provide appropriate burial for. If this involved us, I'd be concerned, but can't believe that a woman who had an abortion would.
Well how could something like this involve you if you provided and appropriat Burial?
As you say, the people who walk away from a tissue sample are unlikely to care.
Planned Parenthood will be sending in helicopters.
Follow the money trail. Can you say 'lawsuit' boys and girls? I knew you could. Let's go find a compassion filled lawyer who will help us find closure for our grievous losses. About $1 mil apiece oughta do it.
First they killed them, now they are concerned about the bodies being found???
This can't be for real. If it is, and they're 'really' concerned about the welfare of their fetus (GAG ME) I'd like to see them charged with neglect/negligence, endangering the welfare of a fetus, abandonment, murder.
Egad!
But...
I thought to have a CORPSE one had to be ALIVE at one point?
