Looting in the wake of a disaster is not just theft. It plunges a society into anarchy. It is of the same gravity as murder and rape, IMHO, for it facilitates both.
I cannot believe that people on a supposedly conservative site cannot grasp this.

You're absolutely right, though. The isrealis have the right idea in putting down violent riots in the past. The leaders would receive a shot from a supressed .22 rifle. They'd fall down in pain from an unknown source, but everybody knew what it was.
Seeing a few violent thugs get taken out will remove the wind from the sails of the most ardent criminal. Without phones or modern communication, word WILL get around that the people keeping the peace mean business.
Of course, they will demonize me for sugggesting violent thugs be taken out of action. I've been labeled a nazi for it. I don't care - more innocenet people would be alive today, fewer women would have been raped- if the government had taken swift, strong action to deter lawlessness.
I'm embarrassed to see fellow human beings being so damned inhumane. These pigs who steal from victims of a disaster are the lowest pigs in the sty.
In this case it really would be for the children and women!
Nonsense. Mass graves for looters placed outside the city limits would easily solve this problem.
Besides, I doubt you would have to kill very many to establish order. Kill a dozen or so, and the rest will get the message and cease and disist.
When a society has descended into barbarism, there is no time for procedural nicities of due process, hearings, arrests, etc. The only way to restore order in a situation that exists as now is to kill on site the enemies of civilization.

Put your mind at ease about HIV being passed by ruptured bodies. HIV is a very fragile virus.....it wouldn't survive to be passed in that manner. The other diseases and viruses are another matter. I'd think typhoid and cholera are the two biggest immediate threats, possibly E. coli contamination as well.
They oppose it b/c the long term consequences would be far more deadly than the short-term gain. The Dems WANT us to shoot the looters! It is just the political fallout they need for ammo in the next election (local, state, or executive branch, take your pick).
Or better yet, they'd love to start a second civil war. Not too far-fetched, as picking off "poor downtrodden looters" one by one is a sure-fire way to start such a civil war. Yes, it is the lawful thing to do, but not the politically wise thing to do (unless of course, you WANT the Dems in the White House).

There are already hundreds of rotting bodies down there. A few more won't make any difference.
It's far more dangerous to the innocent to let feral humans wander among them. Shoot looters on sight. Put a sign on them letting others know they were shot for looting.
The NG and rescue folks will be there in a day or so to tag and bag the remains. If the bodies are 'unrecoverable' you just toss some lime on the ooze and move on.
Shooting looters is a public service.

There are always low lives sniffing around the edges of every great disaster to see if the time is right for them to assert themselves. A healthy show of force early on is the best prevention. In New Orleans it was totally lacking. The Governor, the Attorney General, and the Mayor should be brought up on charges. It is their gross negligence that has led to this terrible state of affairs.
