Hey, tough guy. Nobody "condoned" looting. Why don't you tell one of the outnumbered, outgunned cops out there what a pansy he is? Or, better yet, why don't you go help out?

Yes, many here DID condone looting. Open your eyes.

Unforutnately, that's likely not possible, and trying to explain to you the advantages of seizing control of a situation FROM THE START would be like trying to teach a pig to sing.

The line between civilization and barbarism is a lot thinner than most people realize. Looting in the wake of a disaster is not just theft. It plunges a society into anarchy. It is of the same gravity as murder and rape, IMHO, for it facilitates both. I cannot believe that people on a supposedly conservative site cannot grasp this.

Amen.

Astounding. Absolutely astounding.

The worst part was the cop. The audacity of that woman! "What are you doing?" he asks her. "Looking for looters," she responds. Yeah, right, looking for looters while she herself is looting. Makes me want to vomit.

He should have pulled the trigger.

The cop's black, so no one can accuse him of a hate crime.

The problem is that the police officers ("cops" as you put it) hands are collectively tied.

Yes, but the president, governor, or mayor could untie those hands by declaring martial law and ordering looters to be shot on sight. You're right, it is a failure of the politicians, not law enforcement, except perhaps in those cases were cops were actually doing looting themselves.

The problem isn't looting per se. The problem is that looters are shooting and killing other citizens for simple possessions. As the mayor said, they are looking for drugs. But they have no compunction about killing people to get it. Looting must be stopped, lot because of the loss of physical goods but because of the death the looters are bringing.

"In a chaotic situation, you can't be choosy. The only solution is to kill anyone looting. Period. No exceptions."

Stop beating your chest, Rambo, you'll bruise it.
