Just announced on WWLTV. The Mayor of New Orleans has just declared martial law to deal with the looters. No Miranda Rights, etc.
It won't be Martial law until a looter gets shot. I know that sounds cold, but no one will take them (LE) serious until it happens.
What is left in New Orleans are the poor who are good, those who stayed with the sick, the old who know longer drive and had no one to take them out, some of'em are not too bright, and then there are the predators.
There's the predators, and those who are opportunistic. They have been in New Orleans a long time and have made life a misery for others who were poor, possibly not too bright, and neighborhood bound.
But I taught a lot of people from backgrounds like this. I made friends, I learned, I shared sorrows with them, and happy moments. One of my students was killed by a serial murderer. Some of them were the first in their families to ever get an associate degree. They had families, they were hurt by the predator types, sometimes held more than one dinky job to keep food on the table. They were human and poor, and had a narrow outlook about the possibilities of life, but they aren't trash.
Why did they stay? For some, all they had was there. They knew if they left their house, their main possession, the looters would come. A lot of people in New Orleans don't have cars. I didn't have one when I lived there, cause of the bus service.
Don't tar them all with the same brush.
I think the looter types should be shot for doing what they are doing, but to say all the people left in New Orleans were looters is wrong.
And so, one of the larger cities of the US bloats to death in front of God and everybody. And the pols permit those left inside to have at whatever.
Sounds like a movie.

Of course they expect someone else to save them. We are talking about 3rd generation dependents of the “nanny state”, a “nanny state” that the liberals have created with our tax dollars! Dependents with no responsibilities or accountabilities for their own well-being or their own actions. Nothing but dependents and totally innocent victims of the injustices of a prejudiced society determined to keep them on the lowest end of the socio-economic ladder.

Declare Martial law anyway, give the orders and let the courts scream at you about it later.

When I see looters running all over the place with stolen goods it makes my blood boil.These people are the lowest lowlifes who contribute nothing to America except headaches.I would cheer the first police officer who pumped two bullets into the head of the guy running down the street with a television on his shoulder.We have a small amount of scumbags in every city who will take advantage of any opportunity to go out and take what isn't theirs.If we shoot them it will only make the city a better place and save it money to.
Shoot 'em now, pick 'em up later.

other than the kids, about 90% of the ones I saw on tv could go for a week without food and never show the difference---water, I can understand because of the terrible heat and humidity there--who is stupid enough to live below sea level with water on every side?
Great place to eat. Supposedly they have an outside wall down upstairs. And I'm afraid their wine cellar, the largest in NO, is under water.

I'm no Bush fan by any stretch but that's a good call.

I know it seems a lot like closing the barn after the doors get out, but you know what they say, "Better late than never." At least the evacuation has been declared double super mandatory now, touch black no tags back.
That's becuase no such term (Martial Law) exists in the Louisiana Constitution. Tennessee's outright prohibits such a thing.
It's about time!
