It is with heavy heart I write this...
I have finally reconnected with my best friend who is a paramedic who was sent from Georgia 2 days ago to Gulf Port, Mississippi before the hurricane hit.
He just reached me within the last 10 mins via emergency cell phone to tell me he was alive.
Thousands of bodies have been discovered throughout Mississippi in Gulf Port, Waveland,Hancock County,Bay of St.Louis.
They are hanging in trees and they are pulling them out 30 at a time. Entire families found drowned in their homes and washing up on shore.
The stories he could tell me were brief. National Guard is on the scene and arresting anyone seen on the streets.
The numbers are staggering and what I have been told tonight will shake people to their foundation as the numbers will be coming out in the next 24-hours of just how many people have actually perished in these and 3 other beach communities.
More to follow....
I'll just wait until the official final figures are released, hope they are not as high as estimated, then deal with it.
O.K. I have not been following the posts closley between you and MFH.
BUT BACK OFF!!!
If you want detailed info then hop into a mode of transport and drive your doubting A$$ over and look for yourself and YOU report back to the world.
JERK!!!
MFH- thank you for what info you have provided.
I don't recall insulting your IQ, SANITY, or even your beliefs, per se.
If you think voodoo and other rampant rebellions across our land and in the NO area are wonderful in God's sight--enjoy your perspective as long as you are able to.
I prefer to try and conform my perspective to God's.
And His perspective on a list of things is not all that hidden or even complex or mysterious.
Suffering is a complex topic in the best of times. And you have had a knee-jerk/meat axe response to my inputs on this disaster. You haven't demonstrated much of a clue of really understanding my perspective more than maybe 1/10 of one percent.
If you think God is thrilled, happy, winking at rampant infant murder; glorifying of homosexual behavior and relationships; alcoholism; raging sexual acting out of every stripe; greed; rebellions of many sorts etc.
Then, I think you might do well to trade your defective Scriptures in for more accurate ones.
Hah! You must have missed the very end of my tag line on that post. After reading the thread to that point, I just couldn't resist.
Does anyone know the official estimate at this time..?
Like you I imagine, after awhile I can't remember who said what to whom. I can't remember who blasted me or whom I took a shot at. I would have to back track to find what you jumped the gun about. :-)
ROAD NEWS FOR ALL LOOKING FOR INFO IN GULF PORT
49 is open and I-10 is open...65 is open...coastal roads are wiped out.
"I don't quite understand the cell phone thing. It's probably good to get it up and running, especially to keep communications with rescue crews. BUT I would think rescue crews would be better off with radio comms."
Problem with radio comms would be frequencies. Not all radios would have compatible freqs. Cells would permit emergency personnel to speak with whomever they had numbers for; i.e, much more flexibility. Assumption is they can also recharge them. Possible with generator power.
How remote is this area where the bodies are being found?
under the present conditions Uptown New Orleans is remote from the SuperDome.
Biloxi/Gulfport/Bay St. Louis are not far from NO at all under normal circumstances, maybe an hour-plus drive .. but if the roads are flooded and bridges collapsed, the only coverage of the areas is from reporters who were there when the storm hit. If you have watched Fox, Anita Vogal has been on I-10, 10 minutes (normally) from downtown NO and she hasn't been able to get there in two days.
Most coverage has been on Biloxi and Gulfport, not BSL, which is actually closer to NO. It was just a sleepy, laid-back, artsy little community, really lovely. We have a friend who lives in BSL and commutes to work in NO, and I am praying to GOD they got out This whole thing just breaks my heart.
after looking at just one picture on post number 2058 my guess is much higher. maybe 100,000 plus
THANKS THANKS.
Hope you had a good day at work.
On that, I do agree...you're 100% correct.
Wow, I'll bet you're a fun date. This is America dude - quit the Chicken Little routine, suck it up and get your head screwed on straight.
LOL. You replied 3 times to my post, the only post I've ever made to you.
I stand by my post that your prosyletzing is annoying and detracts from the discussion. You are entitled to think otherwise, of course. I'd just as soon we ignore each other and move on.
Scare 'em up a little, eh? Do you also predict plunging stocks, runs on banks and brokers jumping out windows to commit suicide?
"Deep down, at this point, I'd rather not know, I think. But thanks for the nudge. I'll just wait until the official final figures are released, hope they are not as high as estimated, then deal with it." ~ Publius6961
I know - it's a number that's hard to believe, however I just now saw this post on another thread:
"I'm here in LA and just heard from a FEMA representative that FEMA just ordered 100,000 body bags. It doesn't look good here.

Thank you. Depends upon assumptions in the models, of course. But dramatic figures, indeed. Caught my attention when I heard it.
Hey, just when we were getting this thread to settle down.... ;)
