The situation in New Orleans continues to deteriorate due to rising water levels and desperation. Search and rescue continues via boat and air. Authorities have announced the goal to evacuate all the remaining residents of NOLA. The New Orleans Mayor has reported numerous gas leaks throughout the city. Sporadic fires occurring. Attempts to evacuate hundreds of hospital patients from Charity Hospital and Tulane Medical Center are in process. Patients are being transported to other hospitals as far away as Florida.

The Army Corps of Engineers is at the NOLA levee breaks with current plans to drop 3000 lb sand bags in an effort to stop the flow of water. NOLA hospital evacuations continue for thousands of patients. Reports indicate all evacuees are being taken to the SuperDome, which is now surrounded by water. The generators at the Dome are now in jeopardy. The Governor of Louisiana has called for a day of prayer tomorrow...

Elsewhere, search and rescue continue in Mississippi and Alabama. Biloxi reports indicate catastrophic damage.

If the EPA indeed waved the clean air requirements, I think prices will fall....Phoenix just rose above Los Angeles to 2.99/gallon....30 cents overnight

Maybe they should get the innocent people out of there and let the thugs kill each other fighting over the loot..while they have to lookout for snakes, fire ants, gators, and various possible infections, etc.

The Louisiana Lady Gov. just might have grown a pair.
Watching her on wwltv and she is totally pi$$ed about the looters.

Wow...I'm underwhelmed!!!
I just heard the Governor of LA speak...she sounds like my 1st grade teacher....only less intelligent. She couldn't even remember Gov. Perry's name.

I appreciate your idea, I really do. However, for many of us who live in rural America, there isn't a bus line a block or 2 away.

Therefore, I can assure you I'm not out joyriding (not at $3.00+ a gallon), but I cannot simply give up driving, unless I go out and buy a horse.

I think what we've witnessed shows that NONE of these areas - rural or urban - were adequately prepared. The sad truth may be that there is never going to be a way to really prepare for something so massively destructive and the monumental task of abandoning an entire region.

Many people and agencies will be raked over the coals as this disaster moves past the point of urgency and for some it will be justified. But at this point in time, the blame game just sucks up whatever energy and resources are available to save some of those who are still breathing. Time is running out for many of them.

Wasn't she a school teacher previously? If not, she should have been. Perhaps she can send a note home to the looters' parents. Geez.

Grown a pair? Give the order to shoot on sight then we'll talk about gonads. Bring in the SEALS if the locals don't have the stomach for it.

"REMEMBER NEW ORLEANS!!"
Should become a CONSERVATIVE Battle cry for 2006-2008....

We are witnessing what 30 years of Liberalism, Destruction of the Family and Social Infrastructures have done.

And many of those bodies floating in the water ARE NOT Hurricane related deaths..

what the freaking hell do you mean by this?

Dont really know what her background is and must admit was less than impressed up to now, now cautiously optimistic.
Am impressed by the main law dog speaking now.

Looks like the prisoners got them a ticket to Angola till this mess is resolved.

Be tough to be them, Angola aint no fun place to be .....
