The situation in New Orleans continues to deteriorate due to rising water levels and desperation. Search and rescue continues via boat and air. Authorities have announced the goal to evacuate all the remaining residents of NOLA. The New Orleans Mayor has reported numerous gas leaks throughout the city. Sporadic fires occurring. Attempts to evacuate hundreds of hospital patients from Charity Hospital and Tulane Medical Center are in process. Patients are being transported to other hospitals as far away as Florida.
The Army Corps of Engineers is at the NOLA levee breaks with current plans to drop 3000 lb sand bags in an effort to stop the flow of water. NOLA hospital evacuations continue for thousands of patients. Reports indicate all evacuees are being taken to the SuperDome, which is now surrounded by water. The generators at the Dome are now in jeopardy. The Governor of Louisiana has called for a day of prayer tomorrow...
Elsewhere, search and rescue continue in Mississippi and Alabama. Biloxi reports indicate catastrophic damage.

Tropical Storm 12
I believe that was from the New York Times.
Naa that was ABC.com
We talked about this earlier. This is on another thread. You may or may not have seen it. Can't vouch for it, but thought you might be interested.
Holy Mother of God!
I knew one of the original threads said that NO had 10,000 body bags in case.
OK, as long as it's only a temporary order in a disaster area. When you mentioned Cindy's bus - that would be outside the disaster area and a Communist state tactic. However, if I had a home there, I'd sure want to get back to it to stop the looters and idiots even if I had to hike and wade in with food, water and a weapon, regardless of official rules.
My husband just called so here's a gas price report from Atlanta - lines are long for gas downtown but gas at the QT at Pleasantdale and I-85 is $2.89 a gallon. He saw a station downtown a few minutes ago with $4.99 a gallon and a LINE WAITING!
That's right, thanks. The NYTimes thing was from the "God's destroying the world tomorrow" joke.
Has Vitter done well in this? I like him from what I have seen and hope he has made contributions.
I do feel for Landrieu. Tidewater Virginia is where my heart and soul belong, no matter where I go. If anything such as this happened, I would be shell shocked also.
My response on the other thread:
"If true, not necessarily for this disaster. Need to prepare in advance for whatever may occur over the next year or so --- say terrorist attack maybe."
According to my daughter, it's $3.29 at one of the stations close to the house.
God Bless teh Salvation Army. I see them in this segment on Fox.
I did misunderstand your post then...and I truly apologize.
I guess I am losing patience with so many complaints about Pres. Bush and Shep...and I haven't seen evidence yet that they aren't doing whatever they can to help...
I think ALL of us feel so helpless...that we tend to strike out and blame....I do it also...and we also take it out on other freepers...which I have done.
I am hoping that this task force will NOW go in and take over.
I think that Pres. Bush HAS to give the mayor of a major city, and the Governor of a state to do their jobs before he charges in and takes over....
Thank you for explaining...and again, I apologize.
We are giving to the Salvation Army... they are already on the ground in Gulfport, giving food and water!
I keep asking myself the same thing. I don't understand...
Mayor of NO now saying total evacuation
They say the words but no actions to enforce those words.
Well, now, let's be fair. Clinton had nothing to do with a Category 4 hurricane hitting New Orleans.
One thing in life is certain: there will be problems, some big, some little. How we react is what is important, and Bush has reacted quickly and strongly to every situation that has come his way.
