Sheehan protesting Blue Angels Air Show (via Veterans for peace)
Veterans for Peace--Maine chapter ^

Posted on 08/30/2005 7:32:28 AM PDT by FeeinTennessee

COUNTDOWN TO THE STATEWIDE PROTEST/VIGIL AT BRUNSWICK NAVAL AIR STATION

When: Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005

Where: March begins at Brunswick Mall, and ends at NASB Main Gate

Time: 9 A.M. (at the Mall)

The Event We're Protesting: The Navy's "Blue Angels" Air Show

Theme of Our Protest: "Stop the Worship of the Gods of War!"

On Sat., Sept. 10th, Maine Veterans for Peace will be joined by other major peace and justice groups (see list of co-sponsors below) in a massive protest:

. to protest the false god idolatry of the Blue Angels Air Show, whose "ooh-&-aah"performances have one purpose: to promote badly-lagging military recruitment to protest the obscene waste of American tax dollars to stage these Blue Angels' multi-million dollar extravaganzas

. to protest Bush's immoral, monomaniacal Iraq war -- nearly 1,800 U.S. and 100,000 Iraqi civilians dead, at a cost of over $300 billion, and still counting

. to protest NASB's complicity with the war machine, providing surveillance aircraftto target ground forces, which in the end cause horrendous "collateral damage"

. to challenge NASB to convert to peaceful purposes, creating good-paying high-tech/industrial jobs, making products that improve lives, not end them

We urge you to join us Sept. 10 in Brunswick. Also joining us will be Kathy Kelly (Founder: Voices in the Wilderness) and Cindy Sheehan (Founder: Gold Star Families for Peace)

REPORT ON GODS OF WAR DEMONSTRATION PLANNING MEETING

VETERANS FOR PEACE PLANNING STATEWIDE DEMO

On September 10, Maine Veterans for Peace (VFP) will hold a statewide demonstration in Brunswick to protest the planned appearance of the Navy's "Blue Angels" flight performance team. Calling their action "Stop the Worship of the Gods of War! Say No to the Blue Angels Air Show," VFP is planning a rally on the Brunswick mall to be followed by a march to the front gate of the Naval Air Station. Over 40,000 people are expected to attend the air show thus creating the opportunity to reach with many with our anti-war message.

The VFP intends to concentrate on four key themes as it builds this action. The themes are the obvious idolatry of weapons, the enormous cost of war as social spending is cut, the need for conversion of the military-industrial complex, and the military recruiting nature of the air show.

Peace groups in Maine are invited to join as co-sponsors of the action and are invited to the next planning meeting. It will be held on June 25 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at the Brunswick public library. Call Bruce Gagnon at 729-0517 for more details.

A meeting was held in Brunswick today to plan for the Veterans for Peace demonstration set for September 10 to protest the Navy's Blue Angels Air show that will be held at the Naval Air Station Brunswick (NASB) on September 10-11.

The meeting was attended by Jack Bussell, Bob Lezer, John Wirtz, Peter Stewart, Dud Hendrick, Christine DeTroy and Bruce Gagnon.

I'm mad because they're closing down BNAS. It was a good base. There will not be any base to provide planes to patrol the waters off New England now. Commie subs can now sneak up on US East coast with no one to monitor them.

She finally stepped totally over the edge. She's utterly convinced that she has something important to say; she couldn't be more wrong.

There is a book that explains things.....

Unholy Alliance : Radical Islam and the American Left

And a very good review:

*********************************

Vastly Illuminating, September 25, 2004

Reviewer: Kat Bakhu (Albuquerque, NM United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I had long wondered why people on the Left had the propensity to speak more positively about people who would slit their throats than they do about their own country, which affords them more freedom and opportunity than anywhere else. David Horowitz has answered that question thoroughly and convincingly in his Unholy Alliance. Where I felt bewildered and confused, I now feel crystal clear. Unholy Alliance is such a great book.

It begins with the leftist movements at the beginning of the 20th Century, and works its way up to the present day, exploring the anti-American attitude of these movements in detail. Horowitz shows that the enemies of the US back then are largely the same group today, operating under the same misperceptions, making the same mistakes, and pursuing the same impossible utopia.

Individual chapters are included on the Patriot Act (I was persuaded that it is a GOOD thing); the democratic flip-flop on Iraq once G.W. Bush implemented what they agreed with Clinton needed to be done; the driving components of the current anti-war movement; as well as chapters on individual personalities who are major spokespeople of the Left. Horowitz covers a lot of ground, and he covers it concisely and clearly. Unholy Alliance is richly informative without ever being boring or plodding.

This book is so illuminating that I simply cannot do justice to it here. I love people who reason so clearly that they help me get my own reasoning clear. Horowitz is just that type of person! In the terrain of mindless clichés (no-blood-for-oil, etc.), he is a breath of real fresh air.

These wacko's are now looking for pro-american events or any events to crash, seeing that they really can't draw crowds on their own. T

They have no respect for the injured (Walter Reed) or anything american, leaving their stinch behind. Why don't they go off and form their own commune if they dislike america so much. We'll provide them with the laced kool-aid

I'm thinking that the Blue Angels just keep making very low supersonic passes over the DitchWitch crowd until they are all deaf and leave.

Maybe pull the nose up as they pass over and give them a good hot blast of exhaust for grins.

I absoultely agree. In fact, while the Dems are a disusting annoyance, they would be nothing without their press-secretaries in the MSM. As much as the Democrats would like to think they drive issues, the fact is, they are followers of what their media brethren advocate. Heck, the Dems are a poll-driven, populous party that only advocate when they think an issue favors them; and the only time that happens is when the media makes them believe it's true. The media IS the enemy.

"...to protest the false god idolatry..."

Obviously, if she believes in "gods", she worships the devil. That would explain her maniacal words.

"...to challenge NASB to convert to peaceful purposes, creating good-paying high-tech/industrial jobs, making products that improve lives, not end them"

Umm...not only are they DESIGNED to end them, we want them to be able to do so with maximum efficiency.

In this case, efficiency is defined as:

NUMBER LIVES ENDED/NUMBER OF LIVES THAT SHOULD BE ENDED.

Liberals do not understand this. They think that somehow, if our enemies who wish to kill us do not have planes, we should not use planes. If they do not have smart bombs, we should not use smart bombs, and so on.

Conservatives understand the the fight should be as brutally unbalanced in OUR favor as we can possibly make it while conforming to the above definition of efficiency. (The last caveat weeds out the "Glass parking lot" faction of conservatives...)

This is why we must never again allow one of them to enter the Oval Office as President.

The Blue Angels should buzz their protest site a few times. That would get them scattering like little ants. Oh by the way, the Blue Angels are awesome.
