I've written a note and I will ping both you and Alnick about anything I hear on Slidell.

Do you have family there?

No, but I have friends there who I haven't been able to get ahold of since the evac started.

I hope they left.

Talked to folks in Mobile and MS all day yesterday. Haven't heard a word from LA.

Oh dear. I hope they left too, lugsoul, because Slidell sounds like it's in pretty bad shape.

If I see more specifics, I'll ping you.

Thanks...checked it and nothing about LB. I also checked the local coast paper and they only mention a church in LB

I heard this morning on FNC they are worried about gas leaks too. It's overwhelming.

But America can handle this as we've done before. Other countries need outside help and we'll manage without help from anyone. But WE all need to pitch in as much as we can.

I'm wondering if there is an effort underway by the military to help those troops in Iraq and Afghanistan who are worried about their families back home.

You want video confusion? WDSU, the N.O. NBC affiliate is simulcasting with their sister Hearst-Argyle station in Jackson, WAPT, an ABC affiliate. To add to the confusion, the two stations are now carrying coverage from ABC's Good Morning America on the live video stream.

Right now, that's the only live stream I've got from New Orleans; I lost WWL-TV sometime yesterday.

I've also been watching streaming coverage off and on from WKRG in Mobile; their damage, while not quite as extensive as that in New Orleans, is very, very bad.

Fox just showed Steve Harrigon in Gulfport. He walked into the debris - said the saddest thing was realizing this was not just lumber, but the personnal belongings of someone. He held up three toys - all beanie baby related - a Bopper, a teenie bopper, and the new 4-H bear.

Listening to local radio. Red Cross is reporting this is the largest disaster in American history. They're about to start reporting on road conditions. Will take notes and post back asap.

Lady on CNN just said she went back to her home (in Biloxi, I think) and it just wasn't there. Oaks and magnolia trees gone, no sight of their cars, nothing recognizable on the property.

Thank you, LibSnubber.

I heard the Red Cross spokesman say this morning it was the biggest disaster in the United States. And thank you for listening to those radio reports.

Thanks. I'm pretty sure they would've gone, but it would be nice to know for sure.

Also - anyone heard anything in the Mobile reporting about Dauphin Island?
