“I think this is a wake-up call for the city and country,” he said."

Huh? The rest of the country had been telling him to wake his ass up and evacuate the town. The rest of the country has been telling the city and state for years that they were vulnerable and to take care of their own and raise their levees, while instead they didn't do jack. So are we supposed to buy their insurance, buy their school supplies, buy their shoes, too?

Thanks, I-10 makes a lot more sense.

When the hole would just let it out again? The breach has to be repaired or people have to be evacuated.

Person on with Sanchez says it's serious .. and "the Army Corps of Engineers is going to be assessing it ... they've been in meetings .. and will decide when they get their assessments completed" .. blah blah blah. Incredible. Lt. Kevin Cowan, LA Emergency Preparedness.

Pray pray pray for these people .. something's very wrong here.

I assume the canal is at the local level and is pumped into the lake? Breach would have to be at lake levee unless the canal has levees too!?

We could also begin to see the Mississippi River start to back up. All that water forced into this delta could clog or slow the flow of water within the river. New Orleans could end up receiving four major flooding inputs. Torrential rain from Hurricane. Storm surge from Ocean. Overflow from Lake Ponchatrain. Overflow from the rising Mississippi. And the general Mississippi flow may have backed up and their could be millions of gallon of that backed up water still trying to flow through the delta.

Actually, the floodwaters from the Midwest won't add much, as there are locks in place that allow the Mississippi to flow into the Atchafalaya River if necessary.

Well, here's the dilemma. To go to bed now in order not to miss all the action tomorrow, or to go to bed now and miss something important that happens really soon. I'm going to opt for a bit of a snooze. This is ruining my sleep pattern. Although that's hard to do as I stay up half the nite. I'm sure others here are pondering this very same issue, "to sleep or not to sleep, that is the question." The bed beckens. Nitey nite all.
