Hurricane Katrina made landfall today at 6:10AM CDT, and she continues to drive northward into Mississippi and Alabama. Several local radar sites are down. Tornado and flash flood watches and warnings are widespread.
President Bush has declared major disaster areas, clearing the way for federal aid.

go to above post about discussion at www.tigerdroppings.com its serious but the guy there is right and the guys on cnn are misunderstanding some classic new orleans speak being local lingo the local think you understand when dealing with locations
Depends on how big hole is and how big pumps are.
Welcome to atlantis new orleans!!! (good night all if I can fall asleep)
Say what you want about CNN, but situations like this show that CNN is apparently the only real 24-hour news source in America - Fox and MSNBC haven't bothered to even discuss the levee situation yet, as far as I see. The guy on CNN seems to be a bit of a dumb bulb, but he's better than nothing.
Well u can control the pressure a little esier their a huge break in the actual levee would be almost impossible to stop i think a break there could be thats why they delayed evacuating the hospitals
hahahaha! I agree. When there is an emergency I want news ASAP. Not when it is too late to act. I don't care if it comes from BOZO.
MS coastline, just east of Biloxi.
Thanks. Now I've got a bead on it.
The whole city's gone, but this woman's shoe was left? How big is this woman?
Sink a 400 foot ship along the break? Is the lake big enough for a 400 foot ship? How about 8, 50 footers?
Evidentaly wafb(baton rouge) that has a live feed is reporting on the breech
FEMA said give us a list of your needs, said Nagin, referring to the Federal Emergency Management Agency. And let me tell you, were giving them a hell of a list."
I think this is a wake-up call for the city and country, he said."
=================================
This man is a first-class imbecile .. I pity the poor survivors of New Orleans, having this loser as their mayor. He's gonna tell US that we need to wake up and he's gonna give US a hell of a list??
Just wait and see the entitlement spew that flows out of his big mouth. Unbelievable. Expect Al and Jesse at his side ..heck, Cindy may come by to give him emotional support ... Liberal tools .. I just can't stand it.
oh stop it - it was Joran's shoe she found! (you know Joran van der Sloot's)
Must have had a pair of flats.
I really wonder if Bush is going to suspend habeous corpus in nola and have the army take direct contol at this rate
Ocean Springs, MS population around 17,300.
Hope 17,300 people evacuated before the hurricane hit.
Good point. But I'm going to guess that they delayed the hospital evac because the emergency generators they feared would flood are on the 2nd floor, and that is higher than the level of the lake.
But breaches want to get larger, and I wonder about if there are other weak spots in the levees.
BTW, do you think it is the downtown bridges that the mayor refered to as the 'Twin Bridges' that are 'gone'? Just wondering why this wasn't noticed and filmed during the day, because isn't it visible from the Superdome (and the TV crews there?)
I've been having the same thoughts.
Yes, his attitude seemed totally out of place for the situation.
Wonder how he got elected?
But breaches want to get larger, and I wonder about if there are other weak spots in the levees.
Well, this is the exact opposite of drove my Chevy to the levee and the levee was dry.
The place and the surrounding areas are already flooded .. where will all the water go?
