Hurricane Katrina made landfall today at 6:10AM CDT, and she continues to drive northward into Mississippi and Alabama. Several local radar sites are down. Tornado and flash flood watches and warnings are widespread.
President Bush has declared major disaster areas, clearing the way for federal aid.

I guess I trusted what I heard and read. Maybe it is wrong. Several of us heard the report on WDSN.
Oh, I wrote that earlier post myself -- thanks for asking!
I'm off to sleep now...have a great evening...zzzzzzzz....
Alright, it's almost a deal, you're passing on Bachelor #3, so do you want #2 or #1? And you're keeping Door #2.
On a lighter note--CNN reporting that in the last few hours around 500 people have been resuced and only one minor injury. This is from the ninth ward--woman is in a tree--good grief--CNN is really doing some great reporting!
Unfortunately, no. That "honor" still goes to Galveston.
To this day, they *still* occasionally come across previously undiscovered remains from the Galveston hurricane.
As long as you've known me and as old as you know I am, you actually think I can SEE that graphic? LOL.
Well, I'm off to sleep so the young'uns can party.
;-) Night, you lovely people.
God Bless our American "family" who are suffering tonight. May He keep them close.
:-)
Breaking News Mayor Nagin in a news conference on WWL stated:
Twin Span Bridge totally destroyed.
80% of New Orleans under water.
You could see from the looting video that it was "third world" behavior . . . and the flooding has probably totally disrupted the narcotics supply . . . junkies are going to be going off the deep end . . . not a town I'd want to be in . . .
I heard the Slidell EOC on the air earlier...it obviously isnt under water....
what I posted six hours ago
no, no, no! I am passing on the next updated thread for both Bachelor #3 and Door #2. That's my final decision.
Ooohhhh........you said the magic words: Google Earth!
Here is the big picture (I-10 bridge is on the right - this is the one that is knocked out)

CNN is saying 20 sqaure miles under water.
I knew there was something out there. The internet has everything. So, do we get to marry bannie and revel or not? I suppose that's up to the lovebirds.
Did you see the officers at the Winn Dixie with AR15s?
"good grief--CNN is really doing some great reporting!"
Yes, I agree, they've been the best -- have to admit it :)
