Paula Zahn is incapable of getting it.

On balance, I think Brown did a creditable job of these two interviews- really breathtaking.

Interesting how different 2 persons' perspectives can be. While usually very critical as to how tabloid and sloppy FNC has become, I thought there coverage was pretty good today. CNN was the best.

Harrigan's WHOOOOAH was the only useful thing on Fox. Otherwise, check out the anchor on CNN signing off.

I don't have a live link, but just found this weblog at Times Picayune that seems to be gathering info from everywhere. Check it out. http://www.nola.com/newslogs/breakingtp/

Yes, there is video on WDSU.com of people hacking out of their attics . . . rescuers chopping in with axes . . . boats and copters pulling them out . . . uncontrolled fires burning in water-surrounded buildings . . . all in N.O. . . it's been on ALL night, but Fox and other nets are too busy drinking on Bourbon Street to notice . . .

I just heard that and lost it.

Unfortunately for my husband, he came into the bonus room just after I heard that and said, "Didn't these people know there was a hurricane coming."

I was NOT in the mood to hear that right then. So I zotted him.

I would accept that as a decent reason if these same people show back up after the fact and pay back the store owners for what they "bought" prematurely. But, as long as they were taking with no intention of reimbursement, it is stealing. And it sets a bad example for everyone.

Just think about it this way, if you were thinking how awful this tragedy was, and were getting ready to pick up the phone to call the red cross, salvation army, etc, and look up to see someone walking off with a cartload of diapers (not a bag), would you feel as generous?

Could the grid have remained operational due to the levee pumps?

Yes. This is truly an ongoing drama. Prayers to the rescuers.

Also was fascinated by the story of the boatload of people dropped off on the railroad tracks, the only high ground in a sea of water, where they had to wait for hours for another boat to ferry them to safety. Might have been miserable, but they are alive.

DH always left through Houma to go offshore to engineer things on and around the platforms --- which of course are now destroyed.

I have a question for you all: all this rain/water that is going north now, isn't it just going to come right back down the Mississippi?

"I do not like or trust the Red Cross."

You know, my old bf, who was a Nam Vet, used to say the same thing because they charged him for coffee in Nam...I'm curious as to why you don't trust them. Serious question.
