I just heard Jeanne Miserve in tears talking about how people were screaming

Is there live stream to this station? Is it local in MS or LA?

Why oh why wasn't there a planned shutdown of the electric grid before the hurricane hit? Repeated references to live wires severely hampering rescue efforts.

I don't want to jump ahead too much out of emotion, but I am really starting to consider that in the end some sort of prosecution of the mayor and his predecessors might be warranted. If nothing else, hearings. This disaster had been predicted for decades, yet they claimed that they had plenty of plans in place. I fully understand how difficult it is after a horrid hurricane, that no amount of planning can overcome, but there appears to be some really poor decisions, or lack of decisions, made before this hit. 20 police officers trapped on the roof because they were sent home to wait for a shift change, but not given a boat.

Thanks for confirming what I was speculating about upthread . . . and you're right about the danger of idle speculation . . . but now we know that yes, hundreds of people are in fact trapped in those attics, just as I feared . . .

Meserve said the same thing, not sure what it is - the sewers backing up? the tide coming in? I guess those damn pumps are still not working? how they can install electric pumps on commercial power is beyond me, those things should be on dedicated diesels.

where the hell is FEMA, they don't have portable pumps?

Flamewar? In FR?? Naaaaawwww!! ;)

Thanks cyborg.

Since I was already cornfuzzled, maybe you can clear me up. When are you going to affix the ball and chain to Petronski?

I am glad this is the best day of your life. I can only tell you that every day with Mrs. Shaz29 is also the best day of my life. And tomorow will only be better.

And I assure you, I married UP -- big time.

:)

I am back. Went to bed, but the phone kept ringing. People wanting to know about our Gulf kids.

I would starve to death before I would use cloth diapers. And I am not kidding.

I don't know about the electricity but some people just could make it out. I suppose they were hoping the attic would be fine :(

About the Gas. I don't see why this would be a problem in open air. I would not think it would explode.

About the electric. Can't they just shut the whole grid down. I would have thought that would have already happened.

That's why the NOAA flood warnings at some point said to take axes to hack your way out of an attic or floor onto a roof.

Do you have a link for any live streams from Biloxi or that area?

If so, I'd appreciate it.

I wish they did have comment sections! It would make the wait so much more interesting!
