Why isn't she blaming Bill Clinton? He had 8 years in the WH to take care of the problem.

Was there anything stopping Louisiana or New Orleans from building the levees?

Nah, they spend too much money on kickbacks.

I have to admit I agree with the earlier post and totally think Landrieu is right on this. By the way I worked my butt off to get her defeated last time and supported Vitter to the strongest extent. I expect Repub Vitter and Jindal will be saying the same thing. Its just not this Administration but several that ignored the levee and cosatal erosion problem that endangers not only the oil and gas indutry but also the county's seafood industry. Also levees and costal erosion problems cannot be just financed by a small population like Louisiana. The reason Senator Landrieu is harping on this is because Americans have an attention span of ten minutes and will forget this close call by this wednesday.

How long has she been in office and what has SHE done to work on some of these issues? Isn't SHE the federal government. Sounds like SHE was asleep at HER job. Voters of LA ... oust HER the next election cycle! SHE is NOT doing HER job!

You are absolutely right. New Orleans is situated in just about the worst possible location.

Does Landrieu have any idea how levees are actually made--the science behind them? Does she really believe that building 100+ miles of levee, 30-40 feet high, is feasable? Does she have any idea how wide the levee would have to be in order to be safe at that height?

I know, I know...yes, she really is that stupid.

Jews were blamed for everything by a party that believed that government was the answer...

Darn, what was that political party? It was so long ago I forgot. I guess they, and the mainstream press, have forgotten too.

Just this morning I heard someone on one of the stations saying that this was not because of global warming. One of the TV people was trying to bait him. He said that this is completely normal and cyclical in nature. He was from the National Hurricane Service (or something).

Just another example of Bush not protecting our southern border.

To be honest and to repeat what I said earlier Louisiana's of all parties have tried to address this problem. Actually additional money for the leveies would be helpful but unless major money is allocated toward costal erosion by the Feds there will be a diaster of epic porportions in Nola as well as Southern Louisiana. There is coming a time that the noram natural barriers will be gone that give some protection to these facilties particually the oil and gas Industry. Its a wake up call. But while record money is allocated to the everglades and more to the Hamptons and Cape Cod barrier ISlands we are left with nothing. So party has nothing to do with it.

She started a news conference last night with the same dribble. Got her digs in as soon as she could in that little 'woe is me' voice.

WTF! They should have spent the $186 million dollars they spent on the big losing Saints on fixing the levees and making decent evacuation shelters. Katherine Blanco was all ready to raise taxes in NO to raise money to renegotiate the freaking deal, too. They can raise taxes for a freaking losing football team and to hell with the poor people that are having to ride out this storm in the crappy football team stadium. What a bunch of freaking bull hockey!
