Mary Landrieu's father, "Moon" Landrieu, was a corrupt and womanizing mayor of New Orleans. "Moon" Landrieu had far more to do with the city's levees and current disaster preparedness than Bush or the Republican Congress.Moon Landrieu as opposed to "half moon Mary".
Maybe that will catch on with it's obvious conotations.

I think you mean Illinois, not New York. NY has more than it's fair share of liberal moonbats, but Carol Mosley Braun is not one of them.

Great post.
Actually I hope she keeps it up.Her rants are so stupid and outrageous that after a while even the deaf, dumb and near politically illiterate public will catch on as well.

No. I meant Illinois the state that elected the mental midget Mosley Braun. The New York-Louisiana similarity was a reference to Rotham-Clinton.

One would think this place is the holy mecca of this nation the way some people are carrying on.

Typical Democrat. No pride and all scorn. When they start seeking contributions for Louisiana a lot of us will remember this hack.

In case it hasn't been said yet: There is no disaster or human tragedy that cannot be bent to the greater use of the socialist collective demoRats. Shame on them. This is another reason why they deserve to lose more elections and run off more of their constituency to Canada.
I want to stand in line and vote again, already!

"I am not sure it makes a whole lot of sense to have a big city where New Orleans is. It certainly makes no sense for the government to spend a lot of money encouraging the growth of a city where New Orleans is."
I was thinking the same thing - why encourage growth where is can easily be devasted? NO is a wondeful city - but to keep federal $$'s pouring in is just a money pit.

Well, while it wouldn't make a difference in this storm, the Administration and the House of Representatives want to cut the FY 2006 budged of the New Orleans Corps of Engineers District by approximately $70 million and $50 million, respectively, according to this article originally published in New Orleans City Business.

Landrieu is trying to get the funding restored in the Senate, which is what this little barb was intended for. I happen to think she's right on this, and politically, the President would be wise to go along under the circumstances. Otherwise the Democrats are going to use it as a club in 2006 and 2008.

Was there anything stopping Louisiana or New Orleans from building the levees?
