I'd say LA has historically been the most liberal of the South and considering they can elect some moonbat like Landrieu just confirms that, even though Vitter did do surprisingly well in his November victory.

"Sounds like she's using Hillary's playbook."

Just what I was thinking! Actually, it is the RAT playbook -- Take a catastrophe and turn it into a campaign to bad-mouth the President -- nevermind that he had nothing to do with it. Remember Clinton going down to Florida after the hurricane in 1992 and blasting then President Bush for not being there and not doing something sooner (like prevent it in the first place!) SHEESH!

I've heard this before. When a hurricane moves through the Gulf it churns up the water and gets rid of bad algae which helps the marine life. It's natures way of reoxigenating the water or something like that. Anyway, it is good for the environment, it's just not good for the people. We might think it's the worse EVER, but it's been this bad before, it was just before we could measure it and had large cities in it's path.

I didn't suggest that party had anything to do with it--it just so happens that Landrieu is a democrat Senator, not a structural engineer. Nothing can change the fact that NO is in a bad location--Pompeiian bad. When you state that additional money for the levees would be helpful, are you considering at all what I asserted? For truly safe, effective levees to be built in NO, they would be monstrously large. The taller you go, the wider and longer you MUST go. "Additional monies" starts to sound like hundreds of billions.

One of the problems with a PC world is that people continue to build structures in "flood" plains. They are doing it now in S. Fla.(west of krome ave.) and cry rivers of tears when they get flooded out!!Duhhhh

My question has always been, WHAT DUMB-ASS DECIDED TO BUILD A MAJOR METRO AREA 12 FT. UNDER SEALEVEL?

Well, you know why democraps would want to live in a place that's 12 feet under.....because deep down they're really good people.

Nothing is going to stop a 25 foot storm surge.

Let's replace image that with W going down there and slinging Ice and Water into cars. And when W does it, you know how he is, he doesn't do it just long enough for a photo op, he does it long enough to get all hot and sweaty and at least long enough to give somebody a good break.

I think she's kinda cute but she's a little too chubby. She's about as tubby as Rita but more pleasant to look at IMO.

"To be honest and to repeat what I said earlier Louisiana's of all parties have tried to address this problem."

The way they have tried to address it has been to try and get someone else to pay for it.

Everyone in southern LA has been aware of this problem for decades. They could have made preparations for the eventual catastrophe that everyone knew was going to happen but they weren't willing to pay for it themselves. They wanted the Federal Gov't to come in and pay for it.

Not really when you consider the roof is blowing away and they are trapped in the middle of basin that is probably about to fill with water. They should not have to be there right now.

They should have had a plan to get the most vunerable and poorest people out of harm's way. There was enough time to move them if they had had a real plan ahead of time. They could have made real shelters that were close enough to the city to evacuate people out.
